Michael P. Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 hi all, For the past year or so I have been struggling with composing. I have to erge to compose, the ideas and emotions to express, and the mind power to do it but,... I can't seem to do. I have yet to find a way to compose which allows me to express what I want to express. I have tried clicking note right into finale, I have tried writing at the piano, I have tried a combination of finale and piano, and I've tried going from brain to paper but none seem to work for me. Can someone help me out hear please?:sadtears: Quote
Gamma Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Well, I kind of had the same problem. What I think is happening is that you trying to force yourself to compose to the point of where it becomes stressful. I too am learning how to express myself through music; converting emotions to notes and rhythms can be difficult. It takes much persistence. You might also be expecting too much from the start. I don't know what kinds of music you compose, but if one were to compose for an orchestra from the start it will definitely be overwhelming. Start small, think of a simple melody and put it on paper. Use single instruments. Study other music that you like. There are all sorts of things. Hope this helped somehow. Hang in there, you'll get it I'm sure. :) Quote
