Bourre?

Traditionally, can a bourre be in 6/8 time? Or is there a better term for an up-tempo dance piece with a quarter note pick-up in 6/8?

I should mention that the tempo is not as fast as a typical tarantella.

Gigue, maybe?

Yeah, I hadn't thought of that. It might be a little slow for a gigue, though. What about a mazurka? Aren't they often in triple meter?

This is part of what will (hopefully) eventually be a suite of four or five dance pieces for guitar. I'm also working on another piece for the suite which has turned itself into a tarantella. I like the idea of having a mazurka and a tarantella in the same suite--Baroque Euro-Pop!
