Weca Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Vote! 1. Neil Hefti et al. - 1960s Crime-Jazz Batman Pro: A lot of fun. SOCK! POW! ZOK! Con: Horribly campy. Just the musical sting for the Bat-Ladder is going to make you want to facepalm. Wait until Batman fights a rubber shark! 2. Danny Elfman - 1980-90s Gothic Batman Pro: Suitably dark. ...and that's just how much butt he kicks in the TITLE SEQUENCE of this cartoon. Con: Unsuitably glam. This was in the 80s, before they discovered percussion that could make your theater seat rumble. Those cymbal crashes are as laughable as the Batsuit's nipples. 3. The Edge (yes the guy from U2) - 2004 Animated Batman Pro: Interesting take on the 1960s version. Con: He's not James Bond! Then again his car can transform into a motorcycle... 4. Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard - 2005-2008 Batman Pro: Easily kicks the most butt. Con: Easily pierces the most eardrums. He managed to say "Batman" in two notes. And "Joker" in just one! Also (heavy German accent): who needs a theme when I can just alternate between a few different loops of percussion amirite? Imrite. Quote
Gamma Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 The exploding shark one was just too funny.:laugh::laugh: Quote
Andy1044 Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 You left out Shirley Walker's Mask of the Phantasm, a phenomenal Batman score. In my opinion, better than all the scores here. Quote
Christopher Dunn-Rankin Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 There was a huge to-do when the Batman Begins score came out due to the fact that the track names are Latin names of bat species, and not descriptive titles of what's happening at that moment. Also, tracks 4 - 9 form an acrostic of the word BATMAN. Quote
Marius Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Uh, yeah, what Andy said — and you're missing Elliot Goldenthal's Batman contributions. Sad sad omissions...:( Quote
Weca Posted November 17, 2009 Author Posted November 17, 2009 I can't redo the poll (unless a kind mod changes it) but I will add some Youtubes for completeness! (how could I forget Eliot Goldenthal's "French horns having a heart attack" Batman?!) 5. Shirley Walker's Operatic Batman What's especially cool is how easily it modulates to or from Elfman's theme. 6. Eliot Goldenthal's "Batman and Robin" Too bad the movie was TERRIBLE. Quote
Weca Posted November 17, 2009 Author Posted November 17, 2009 And the list wouldn't really be complete without this video: .... Happy Halloween. Quote
