I think almost everyone has an instrument they can call their own, an instrument wich sound makes your heart tremble. Well, for me is the piano. So I'm looking for new songs or composers since I have really few on my favorites. Playing other's songs is one of the best ways to understand music, as many of you have discoverd, I supose, so I hope I can also find something interesting to play.

Thanks for the time. Music for all.

I'm simply looking for beautiful piano songs, so people from this website are more than welcome. I enjoy Chopin, but haven't heard of Philip Glass, I'll listen to him.

Thanks for the answer!

Do you actually mean "song" (as in for piano and voice) or just piano? You need to be a bit more specific about your tastes if you want useful suggestions.

Work your way up to Frederic Rzewski's hour long piano solo, The People United Will Never Be Defeated!. Shouldn't this thread be in the repertoire section?

You are right, thanks for the recomendation. I'm looking for jsut piano songs. My tastes have a big range, so I'm open for anything. Though I usually enjoy music impregnated by a sad, maybe dark athmosphere.

I'm new to the site so wasn't sure were to post it. Sorry if it is not in the right place.

Rachmaninoff and Gerhswin are my currently my favourites.

It's fun times

And Gershwin just blows my mind with how catchy and fun his tunes can be.

Rachmaninoff and Gershwin wrote my favourite orchestral pieces too, so that's another reason why I think they're so cool :)

Look up and find (if you can for free; i recommend Torrent lol) Philip Glass's piece "Morning Passages." It was in the movie "The Hours" (he wrote the music for the film)

It's VERY simple to play (I can sightread it), and it sounds nice. This is just a taste of philip glass

Chopin: Try out his Fantasie-Impromptu (Opus 66 or 67, idk which). It takes a while to learn, but it's well worth to know ;) (women love hearing it)

Also try listening to Valse, Opus 64 and Nocturne in E Flat, Opus 9\\

Rachmaninoff is a great choice too. Try his Prelude: Opus 32 in C# Minor (it's very eeery; you'll love the middle section)

A reaaaly fast but fun piece is Saber Dance, by Khachaturian. Look it up ("Gayne Ballet")

I really like Alkan piano... though it can be hard to play. Also, Chopin does some cool stuff.

I love alkan's sherzo diabolico! He is one my few favorites I mentioned.

Oh Chopin all right! But Liszt is also my favourite! I am currently learning his 3 concert etudes. What a joy! Un sospiro...

And of course... Mozart.

Chopin.

Liszt.

Mozart.

I can't say who's first really. I guess they are all kings!
