chopin Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Some of you may wonder what happens to existing music, music you wish to be categorized on YC but music that already has comments. You can now upload your existing pieces to the network, and we can transfer your comments over from the archive. The only effort on your part would be to reupload the mp3/midi through the network. Once you do this, you must contact one of our reviewers with your current thread, and archived thread. The reviewers will then transfer your comments over, and delete your existing thread in the archive. This method isn't perfect, but if you are proactive, we will help you move all your existing comments of your works into our network, so your older works do not have to sit in the archive indefinitely. PS: I will start re-uploading all of my works, probably today, and move existing comments over. Mods, reviewers, tech admin, and admin can move their own comments over at their own free will. Any members who want to follow suit, please list your name here and keep up to date with this thread so we can help you with this process. We will also provide you a list of active reviewers who you can contact for assistance, coming soon. Quote
Elizabeth Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I would appreciate if you could do this for me!! Thanks a bunch! Quote
chopin Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 Your TODO: Upload your music, provide us with your current music threads. Find your existing music threads. We will then merge your files for you, so get back to us. Quote
chopin Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 Oh, and if anyone wants to become a reviewer, please let us know. You not only will have the ability to "move threads" yourself so you don't have to rely on us, you also will be rewarded 800 megs of upload space. Quote
Elizabeth Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Your TODO: Upload your music, provide us with your current music threads. Find your existing music threads. Here's one...I don't have the rest of the files with me at the moment: Old: http://forum.youngcomposers.com/t21808/reflections-in-the-rain/ New: http://www.youngcomposers.com/pg/Music/jesusfreak1277/composition?entry=20682 The music should already be uploaded in the "new" entry. chopin Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 Ok I moved your thread. This is possible to do but it requires a little "know how". Ron, we are going to have to train the reviewers how to work these procedures. Quote
TheMaskedTrumpeter Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I don't know if I did this correctly, but here are two entries Virgil: Old - http://forum.youngcomposers.com/t22242/virgil/ New - http://www.youngcomposers.com/pg/Music/TheMaskedTrumpeter/composition?entry=22824 Joyful Tidings!: Old - http://forum.youngcomposers.com/t21907/christmas-piece-for-band/ New - http://www.youngcomposers.com/pg/Music/TheMaskedTrumpeter/composition?entry=22828 Quote

chopin Posted December 23, 2009 Author Posted December 23, 2009 That's not good. Magna, can you reupload your piece, this time do not put in parenthesis in the title? Quote
James H. Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Magna Carta, I moved all the posts and tested commenting and deleted the obsolete thread in the archives, everything has been moved and is functioning properly. Cheers! Next thread, peeps! I've got this down to a science. Quote

SYS65 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Ok, thanks, but you did delete the long description was in the old thread ... hey , so we can not longer post music if we don't upload it into the new network, ? (I have my music in Last.fm) Quote
Anders Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 maybe make quotes look a bit more pretty on the extension? Quote
jawoodruff Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Ok, thanks, but you did delete the long description was in the old thread ... hey , so we can not longer post music if we don't upload it into the new network, ? (I have my music in Last.fm) Sorry about that. You can reedit the first post to add the description. And no, you are no longer allowed to post links to indirect (3rd party) sites. Quote
SYS65 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Ok, I'll edit my thread, and about the uploading thing..... I don't like that at all, but I'm not going to change YC into my personal taste so, I'll have make myself into this new fashion. and why the images and other tags don't work in the network page only in the forum, and the old codes for bold, italic, underline ...etc can "they" remove the case sensitive in those codes ? 'cos it was in capital letters now in lower-case. The link "Users that viewed this piece" doesn't work for me (IE8 on Vista) Sorry if I make to many questions but I'm just getting used to this new thing. Quote

jrcramer Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Can this be done with multiple theads? I have posted the movements of my elegy as seperate threads, but thanks to the improvement of collecting movements in the new site, I'dd like to intergrate them. I fear it can't be done...? The new is at http://forum.youngcomposers.com/t22578/3-elegies/ The old ones (3 threads are named in my first post) Quote
James H. Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Not a problem - done. Posts are kept in chronological order, I tried adding what movement was being referred in posts that could be ambiguous as to which movement they were referring to. Not that important, but if you need any fixes on that, let one of us know. :) Quote
jrcramer Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Thanks. In the original topic on the first movement people were talking about the first two movements. So this intergration is really beneficial for overall clearness. ;) Quote
robinjessome Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Is there any way we can add a "select all" option for those of us moving these threads? You get a 100+ post thread and it gets REALLY tedious having to select each post individually.... :whistling: Am I just being lazy and asking too much? Quote
chopin Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 I allowed 20 topics per page (for now) to help with this problem, although I personally like 10 topics per page, what about you? Also, do you realize you can select all topics while clicking through pages, and move all topics in one shot? Quote
