James H. Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 No no no ... "select all" for the posts, not all threads, so we can auto select every post in a thread to move then to the correct thread on the new upload forum without having to click the checkbox for each and every post in the old thread. We can't select all the posts, since one has to remain, so I usually make a post at the end that just says temp and delete it once I've clicked and moved all the other posts. Quote
javileru Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I was wonder if the previous finale files -specially my quintet for brass- I had in YC is still in the archive. I ask this because I lost all my music files in my old pc and had to get a new pc. It was a mess. Thanks. Quote
chopin Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 It should be. Just do a search in the archive forum, or search your attachments. Quote
pliorius Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 if you could help me by fetching my 'the river' thread from orchestral category in archived forum to new one, i'd be grateful. i could possibly repost the links myself, but it seems i cannot start a new thread in all of this forum. thanks in advance. (if you tell me how to start a new thread (i have 'you cannot start new thread') i will do it myself (repost links to other music storages, they are still alowed, right?) Quote
jawoodruff Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 No, you can not post links to 3rd party sites in the upload forums. Please go through the network and upload the works that way. Click the community button at the top of the page to access the network. Then select My Profile on the page. You should see a tab on your page for music. It's pretty self-explanatory after that. pliorius Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 so i uploaded a composition throught the network and it says in my profile that no compositions uploaded, but the used space is 20 mb. Quote
nickstix91 Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Ok, I feel a little stupid but what exactly is going on? In order to transfer old thread I create a new upload, and then post the link to the new upload and the old upload? After that happens where will the new thread apear on the forums? Will threads still be catagorized by what ensemble the music is for? Quote
SYS65 Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Yes, we moved many threads, but all this was some time ago, I don't even remember exactly how to do it, and now it´s a different site, but I think we still can move comments to from the archive to the new forum, let me see... EDIT: Forget it, I have no idea what's going on, Chopin is currenlty moving all the site, :dunno: 1 Quote
jrcramer Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 So, I was wondering how it's going with this. When the reviews are being counted, it would be nice if review from before the latest change counts as well. And I would really be happy if I did not had to re upload my works and could save the comments. please? :D Quote
HeckelphoneNYC Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 The pieces from the 2005-2010 forum aren't working, since I uploaded so many pieces, and don't want to have to upload them AGAIN...... pleeeeeezzzz can you enable them back? I'd like to still be able to see the old pieces. :) Thanks! 1 Quote
jrcramer Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 The pieces from the 2005-2010 forum aren't working, since I uploaded so many pieces, and don't want to have to upload them AGAIN...... pleeeeeezzzz can you enable them back? I'd like to still be able to see the old pieces. :) Thanks! Yeah. I suspect that that will help people returning, seeing that their work (both musically and as reviewers) is not easily discarded. Otherwise it does like as if YC does not value its users contributions... Quote
chopin Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 Unfortunately there is not much I can do about porting over the old music, it is too labor intensive. The user will have to be responsible for uploading the works again. It's not a big deal, the uploader is easy to use and much quicker with this new site. You don't have to upload one by one, you can upload multimovement works which makes the process a lot smoother. Quote
jrcramer Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Ok, I understand. I was hoping that an easy script could convert the reviews to comments on the music-page and move the saved mp3 to the new location... I only hope for future reference that you find a way to maintain the current works and reviews easy accessible, especially when moving to a new system. Stocking them away in an archive is like putting them in a cellar, only to collect dust. That would give the wrong impression, I guess... Granted that the archives still maintains the reviews, the connection between them and the music often has been severed. Also note: I am really glad with the new upload system: works better than ever, also the inclusion of multi-movement works is very cool. I am hoping that this system sticks for a long while ;) Quote
chopin Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 This system is definitely here for the long term, we are settled. I wish I could do something about the archives, but its easier to just start over again. Quote
Guest John Pax Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 If we're "starting again" and remaining with this system from here on in, I suggest that you completely clean up the archives. Remove all the dead threads, dead links.. dead pieces. Who cares about site statistics, the thing that will keep people/draw people in will be a clean, organised, functioning site. 2 Quote
