bob stole my cookie Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 One of life's great mysteries: how do you post a picture so that it can be viewed without having to upload it to YC and without having to follow a link? I give thee the anwser. Here i introduce a muchly ignored Tag [img= and of course ] now, to use it, all you must do is insert the URL of an image inbetween the tags [img=http://www.jetro.go.jp/en/market/trend/topic/images/pikachu.jpg] and there you have it, here is the end result : a useful site for storing imgaes for free is PhotoBucket. you can upload images to this site which will give you a URL for the image that you can insert between the tags to have it show  also, if none of you have noticed, or would like to master the tags (or want to see what else you can do), there is a link below the emoticons on the left labled BB Code Help. try it :P Hope this helps :D Quote
J. Lee Graham Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Brilliant! Thanks for that! Now, for your viewing pleasure, Francois Boucher's excellent portrait of Madame de Pompadour (Louis XV's mistress): Quote
Daniel Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Holy God - look at that dress!! Oh, and btw, why don't the tags work when they're quoted? Quote
J. Lee Graham Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Holy God - look at that dress!! Yes, indeed. The woman certainly knew how to dress. It helps having a king pay the bills, too. I have this portrait on my bulletin board at work. Everytime I look at it, I see a new detail on that dress that I never noticed before. It's absolutely exquisite. The only bad thing about that dress is that an entire village of French peasants worked for a whole year to pay the taxes that bought it (I'm exaggerating a bit...but not much). And that was only one of probably 100 she had at any given time...and she likely replaced them all every season. It boggles the mind. EDIT: It occurs to me that this dress is a visual representation of why the French Revolution occurred. Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted May 12, 2006 Author Posted May 12, 2006 Oh, and btw, why don't the tags work when they're quoted? they dont work within the CODE tags either. neither do urls. i think its because when you quote something, the text is taken, not the properties itself. the url and ing tags both link outside the site ... ill finish this post later when i have time, must go make dinner  Quote
