Black Orpheus Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 No, and no. Like mentioned before, Finale-Sibby conversion is just too gruesome and asking people to use a web app would be asking people out of their comfort zones. This idea for Noteflight is an idea worth developing, completing, and maturating, but I don't think it's for us. Maybe somewhere years down the road, but I can't see this being added to our plate right now. We can't even get our own network to work properly without pouring endless effort into it. All that aside, no - I wouldn't use this web notater even if it was free and guaranteed to work properly. I'd rather just work in Finale and upload my mp3's and pdf's. I totally agree. I think YC has other things to focus on first and it will be one heck of a task to do conversion well. I HIGHLY doubt conversion is worth pursuing at this time unless you have money to blow and are able to hire full-time specialists. Quote
chopin Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 The uniqueness factor go me thinking - I noticed that finale, sibelius, all the browser-based notation software, they're all pretty much the same! If we had a revolutionary new idea, I'm sure Noteflight would team up with us if we were to allow them to manufacture the product using our idea. We could either get it on our forum as pay, or get payed in money even to make our own or something? I'd still like to discuss this. What kind of revolutionary idea would you like to see in a notation program? If we team up with NoteFlight, which will be a big step for us, we need as much info as we can get. Quote

As we talked about with editing each other's scores, they could implement a feature where you could seek permission to edit a score, but instead of changing the other persons notation, it would either appear in an ossia staff or in another colour. As of now, it's possible to edit each other's scores on Noteflight, if the permission is given. Quote
