John Axon Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Here's a slightly updated version. What do you think? http://www.box.net/shared/zq0n8ghtrm It's pretty cool, Jimmy. I'm a pretty big fan of the changes. Your new section that you added in, can you give it more of a beat? You've been building up to that section and to leave out the drums feels disappointing. I like the ending. It shows that your track loop but also ends with some style. Peace on Earth, -John

Peace on Earth, -John More drums are on their way!! But otherwise did you like that new section? like,, the rest of it? also, upon using my headphones i realized a lot of the music was coming only out of just the right channel. Is that something I should worry about, or will that be taken care of when and if chosen?
John Axon Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 More drums are on their way!! Excellent! It will really help But otherwise did you like that new section? like,, the rest of it? I liked it I just wish you transitioned to it better. It kinda comes out of nowhere right now. it's got a really, really cool feel, like an urgent sci-fi scene. Like I said, I like it. also, upon using my headphones i realized a lot of the music was coming only out of just the right channel. Is that something I should worry about, or will that be taken care of when and if chosen? You probably don't have to worry about it right now. It'll definitely be something you wanna change if your piece gets chosen, however. I can easily see this piece in this game. It sounds awesome! Peace on Earth, -John
Tuskle Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Nice, indeed. You probably don't have to worry about it right now. It'll definitely be something you wanna change if your piece gets chosen, however. Yup, that's true
Jimmyjuicin Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Revision III http://www.box.net/shared/m2pd0xfyvf :) Thanks Doovongeman for all the feedback!
John Axon Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Yo, Boxnet's player suddenly looks a lot better? Are there any other changes going on with it? Nice. The drums help SO much. 1:22-1:32 sounds so much better now especially with the fill leading into the next section. I really like the middle section but I think you have to be careful that the volume's don't get too loud causing the track to peak and get all distorted. You can hear this at 1:09. Either put a limiter on the track or turn your tracks down a little bit. You've done a lot of great work on this track, Jimmy. One change that I suggested that I don't think you made was the transition to the middle section at 1:09. It sounds a little smoother because it crescendos into the next section. In fact, it doesn't really sound that rough, but I think a drum fill going into that section would set it up nicely. Excellent work! Now make sure the track isn't peaking in the volume Peace on Earth, -John
Jimmyjuicin Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Thanks a million for the tips! Yea... I didn't realize that the piece began to get disorted until AFTER I uploaded it and posted the link. It didn't do that on finale. I'll fix it
Jimmyjuicin Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Here's the (hopefully) final product. XTJ-21.mp3 MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu XTJ-21 > next
John Axon Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Nice work, Jimmyjuicin. Your second section in the middle of the piece has a second theme within it. You had the bass do a gliss. down every now and then. I thought it was cool. It's a good final product. Have you tried turning up the drums in the first section? It might give the piece more drive. Peace on Earth, -John
John Axon Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Hey Tuskle, How's the development going? Will you have a demo ready soon? I'd love to try the game! Peace on Earth, -John
sabiansoldier Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Are you still Looking for music? Try this Marimba piece, I think it might work. http://www.box.net/shared/mz4857dgos
John Axon Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Sabiansoldier, your display pic rocks my socks. You have a cool piece. I think you could turn the marimba way up. What do you think about another instrument somewhere in the middle for colour/variation? If you found the right instrument that compliments the marimba, it would do wonders. Nice track. -John
Tuskle Posted April 18, 2010 Author Posted April 18, 2010 Development was looking pretty good until two weeks ago. Now we have a short break before we can continue and I think I should be able to share some screenshots or a video about the game within its current state soon. The estimated time of the remaining development is very hard to tell, but we have already done quite a bit.
John Axon Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Cool. What happened two weeks ago? Peace on Earth, -John
Tuskle Posted April 19, 2010 Author Posted April 19, 2010 Nothing to worry about. My side projects started to consume more of my time than usual, so I fell back a little. @ Sabiansoldier By the way, it's not a flash game. Players will have to download and install the game.
John Axon Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Hidy Ho, Tuskle. How goes the development? Got anything ready to show us? Peace on Earth, -John
Tuskle Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 Hi everyone. Thank you for all your submissions so far. Actually the game itself started to look better with every hour spent, but unfortunately something affected the whole development process in a very negative way: Two days ago my computer refused to boot, so I had to completely renew the windows installation. That alone was no problem at all, though it was a lot of work due to all those back-ups. However, at this moment I am not able to execute the game.exe anymore and we have been digging around for several hours now so that we can locate the problem. I am working together with a very skilled guy who actually was able to solve all kinds of problems that have occured previously without even a bit of my influence, but this time it looks much different. We even managed to find some guy that posted a thread with the very same problem - his post is yet to be answered... There will not be any progress at all, unless we manage to fix this issue...
John Axon Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 That sounds pretty bad! I hope it works out Tuskle. Best o' luck, -John
Madman3123 Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 I'm working on a piece for this now. Do you mind if pieces were wrote previous to reading this brief are submitted even if they fit because if not would these two pieces be eligible. http://www.youngcomposers.com/pg/Music/Madman3123/composition?entry=35572 http://wwwyoungcomposers..com/pg/Music/Madman3123/composition?entry=35608
Tuskle Posted June 10, 2010 Author Posted June 10, 2010 Just wanted to let you know, that we're back on track. The game is running and we have fixed mostly every issue that caused trouble. The end of the development process is coming near. We're currently working at the network, so that online gaming will work. Current version is 0.7, so we will have our beta (0.9) pretty soon and I will then be able to spend more time to listen to all the tracks that have been uploaded ;]
John Axon Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Excellent, excellent, exccellent. I hope the game is awesome! Btw, Madman, there were two typos in your second web address. Here's what it should be. http://www.youngcomposers.com/pg/Music/Madman3123/composition?entry=35608 -John
Madman3123 Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Damnit thanks for that. Don't understand how there can be typos though when I copied and pasted  Probably just another sign I need to replace the batteries in my wireless keyboard. Just outa curiosity when will we be notified if our pieces are going to be put onto the game and has a deadline been set for last submissions or is it yet to be set?
Tuskle Posted June 15, 2010 Author Posted June 15, 2010 Oh, I am open for submissions until we release a 1.0 version of the game. In beta I will take the time and list every single submission in one post and I will declare the winners then. I lost the overview during the last month, so I can't really tell whether there are going to be a lot winners or not. Yesterday we have created our blog - there's not much to be seen here, but you will definitely find at least one video that shows some footage soon ;] http://coax-studios.blogspot.com/ Hope we can make that blog look better soon :/
