SYS65 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 You mean you can't play what you uploaded ? I only see a String Cuartet No.1 and I did listen the MIDI and downloaded the PDF, but that doesn't appear to be the work you mention. give me the link to check it .. Quote
Jimmyjuicin Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Will the forum on the new site be up to date with this one? Right now there's stuff on this one that's not on the new site. Quote
SYS65 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I think Chopin didn't copy all content to test the new site, when the current site gets replaced with this new, all contents in music, comments and users will appear... (I think ) Quote
Tokkemon Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 A thought: Can we PLEASE get rid of the stupid "reputation" thing where people vote posts up and down? It's been abused by people that don't like other people (such as BDW consistently voting my posts down). It doesn't help to the site, simple as that. 6 Quote
SYS65 Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Yes I've seen many "-1" in your posts, (I've never voted negative for your, actually if I'm going to vote is because I'm going to click positive) I think you have one or several clear enemies with an stupid obsession... I think right now Chopin is very busy to take care of new things on the large list of items must be fixed on YC, but I will propose him (you can PM him too) a profile option to disable the reputation ... because it can be (it is being) used wrongly and just bother members.... I won't tell you who but there's a member (he hasn't show up in months, thank's God) who each time he replays something I said the only thing he does is insult me, and it's being like that since my 1st thread, I never post and answer and I ignore him but I'm sure if he would be here now he would be clicking the -1 on me always... you just can't understand those people ... Meanwhile click +1 on your own post to balance this matter, I think you can vote up to 20 times per day. Also remember you can post kinda hard stuff to members you know well, Chopin, Gardener, maybe Berlioz, Hillary, probably Jen, even myself, BUT members you don't recognize, ... be super kind with them 'cos some people get easily offended. (I just gave you a couple of + ) 1 Quote
MariusChamberlin Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 The speed is very fast for me, every page loads within a few seconds. I like the header, and the organization is simple and easy to understand. AS far as design goes, I like the header A LOT, but I think overall there should be more of the brownish/creamish color that this site uses, just to add a little accent. Right now most of the page is stark white. Anyways, connection speed is great, and I'm having few troubles with finding my way around and whatnot. OS is Vista 32-bit and browser is Google Chrome Quote
Tokkemon Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I won't tell you who but there's a member (he hasn't show up in months, thank's God) who each time he replays something I said the only thing he does is insult me, and it's being like that since my 1st thread, I never post and answer and I ignore him but I'm sure if he would be here now he would be clicking the -1 on me always... you just can't understand those people ... Lemmie Guess. Corbin? Meanwhile click +1 on your own post to balance this matter, I think you can vote up to 20 times per day. (I just gave you a couple of + ) Lol, I already do. It doesn't help much. And thanks. Quote
SYS65 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Lemmie Guess. Corbin? No, I don't know who's Lemmie Guess, and Corbin, yeah he used to be on a dislikeful mood sometimes, (besides his special ... you know...) Quote
Tokkemon Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 My tests: Chrome Windows 7 64-bit · Login: OK · Logout: OK · Register: OK, but broken picture on page. · Lost Password: OK but no e-mail sent immediately. That's a problem. Automate this process. · Viewing the Site: OK. Faster than the old site but still slower than I'd like. Takes about 2-3 seconds for main page to load (i.e. Home, Music, Forums etc.) · Viewing my Profile: OK · Editing my profile info: OK, some broken pics again... · Uploading Composition: Works sporadically. Worked once with a very small file. But once I used a larger file it failed and said I need to buy more space. Upon second attempt the upload does not save and hangs on "youngcompsoers.com/action/music/save" which it shouldn't because this version is supposed to be on a designated server. Smells like a broken link in the code. · User's Media Used: Fail. Space used in compositions does not reflect on the profile page however. It says 0Mb used when it should be a bit more · Shoutbox: OK Smilies work. · Rating system: OK though this needs to be removed. Quote
SYS65 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Ok, ok, ... very nice, very nice but... When the new network will replace the current one ? Is it possible to replace it now and keep tunning the final aspects ?.... sorry for be too impatient but the current network is ... well, you know how it is Quote
chopin Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 Tomorrow I will ask the status of the site. The migration should be soon enough, it does look much better this time around. There are still some design issues I have to work out with them, but perhaps I could find a volunteer CSS person to help update and fine tune the aesthetics, and match the forum colors. Quote
robinjessome Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 · Uploading Composition: Worked 100% for me... 4MB file, no problems and in a timely fashion (i.e. no unreasonable lag) · User's Media Used: Seems to only take into account newly uploaded music. Mine, in spite of four or five other tunes, only notes 4Mb of space used... ... Quote
SYS65 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Ok... something more, my yesterday post here and 2 posts today (including this one) took about 1:30min to post it, it is also getting slow while browsing pages.... something's wrong here ? do I have to check my computer ? or just wait, you may be making some changes in the forum.. EDIT: this one took about 45secs Quote
chopin Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 We are moving the test site over tonight/tomorrow. The overall speed of the site and network functionality should be much improved from the first version. Quote
chopin Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 We should be ready to test the site again. I apologize for not being as active these past few weeks, I have had limited time unfortunately. However the project is still underway, and I would like you all to participate in testing the site. test site At a glance, I see many cosmetic problems, but I would like to test the main feed, and profile feed functions. There is also a "binder" section, where you can add your threads with ease and manage your watched topics there. There should be a way to add feed items that have to do with the forum to the binder, so let's test that too. Let's also look for flaws in the feed logic. I ask everyone who is testing to site to add me as a friend and I will do the same, so we can track the "home feed" to see what goes on. Also, if I can have just one volunteer to help communicate with me all the problems of the site until we finally complete it (this means helping me gather all complaints from everyone into one report, then reporting to me) please let me know if you'd be interested. Quote
robinjessome Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Sounds good Chopin. Where would you like us to deposit our "bugs, complaints, comments and criticisms"? If you want, make ME the volunteer. Everyone can forward problems and comments to me.... should I start a thread, or take PMs only? Quote
chopin Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Great, you are the appointed complaint taker :) You can start a thread, but I would need a report of the problems in one location (to make it easier for me to absorb everything). I'd need which web pages have problems, examples, etc. The problem in the past is that every time I ask for complaints or suggestions, I feel too overwhelmed since everyone is coming at me from all different directions, sometimes attacking me, sometimes not being specific enough about the problems they are experiencing, and as a result everything seems very scattered. I want to resolve this moving forward, because I really want to improve the quality of how we run things, and address problems here with clarity and a clear goal. And now that I have limited time (which is a good thing, my day job continues to be stable during these bad times, which is necessary to fund the projects), having someone help me out with these issues would be wonderful. JeremyL Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 When you first log in, then press the button that says "music", on the top-left of the page under my name there's a piece of text that says "default/owner_block/extend view does not exist." oh it's on every page. The spacing between the kinds of music and the amounts of them is sporadic. When I try to look at my music, I get a piece called "Just Eat and Shut Up" and nothing else. LOL. Quote
chopin Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Yeah I'm navigating through right now and its awfully buggy. I'm going to have to get on their case about this. I can't even figure out how to add someone as a friend right now. The speed however seems much improved. For now, everyone should just visit my profile, and add me as a friend. I will add you in return. Then write forum posts, and I will as well and let's record what happens. Quote
chopin Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Actually everyone hold off on testing, I didn't realize how buggy this is. Once they get their act together and produce something that is actually able to be navigated, I will open up this thread again for discussion. Robin will be filled with unnecessary complaints. I'll keep you all posted. Edit: Digging deeper, past the annoying errors, this is a very cool site indeed. I can see myself having so much fun interacting in the future! The things that do work are the feed contents, and pinning certain feed items. Pinning a feed item will move it to the binder so you can keep track of your feed items in one location so events do not get pushed down. This is a huge problem with most feed related websites, and in a site where people want to "track" certain things, I feel this is a necessary function, and an improvement. Overall, the network does finally have a reason to be used "widely" with this new update, which was the goal. Quote
Salemosophy Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Wow. And I was just getting used to the 'new' YC in its current state. Now it's changing again? Cool. I dig the look, though it's a bit cartoon-ish. No complaints though, just some observations. Quote
James H. Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I'm not sure if this is something you considered a bug or not, but when you visit any profile (such as your own) the tabs loads very slowly (if I click Activity or Binder, etc). This is impart due to the fade you have applied between pages, but it's rather annoying. Is this load quicker without the fade altogether? Instead of a fade, if anything, how about a small loading graphic (animated rotating gif perhaps) that is preloaded and used if necessary? Quote
Ravels Radical Rivalry Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I think it is insanely UGLY. I am just saying my opinion though. I like the view of the forum that we have now. 1 Quote
chopin Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 Let's start testing again: Test Site Please list any issues here, and let's try to keep all issues in one universal format. For example: Bug #1 from [Your Name Here]: bug description Bug #2 from [Your Name Here]: bug description etc... Then I can merge all bugs into one list this way for the developers to fix. Quote
