rickmiller Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 I wish to use a two-way glissando on a harp. How can I notate this neatly. i.e. Without the two glissandos getting in the way of each other. If I haven't used the correct term for what I mean, an example is the harp in the Rooftop Scene from Vertigo. Quote
Black Orpheus Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Can you be more specific? I listened to the Vertigo scene on YouTube but I had a hard time hearing what the harp(s) are doing. It sounds like there are only repeated upward rolls and maybe the gliss. restarts in the opposite hand before before it ends, but I'm not sure. It's fairly common to have glissandi going in the same direction but separated by thirds or octaves. You could also start near the middle of the harp and have the hands roll out in opposite directions. Quote
ParanoidFreak Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 It should be the same as a regular gliss, only you'd have two starting and ending notes on the staff, one for each hand. In terms of how to get Finale/Sibelius to notate it, you'll probably have to look around a bit. Quote
rickmiller Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 Why not to do something like this: Thanks for all of your help guys! :) SYS65, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks again, Rick. Quote
