Saxophone Competition - PRIZE!

Ok guys, since I received only two entries, I am going to declare both the winning pieces....jrcramer's work was very mature and modern, capturing influence from many styles and JimmyJuicin's was pleasant, playful and fun...

I will record both works... Could you please both send me sax parts by themselves? Also, do either of you play piano. I don't play and both of your pieces require it...If you can record the piano or know someone who can, I can finish the recordings quicker...I have a friend who can record it as I said before but it will take a little longer because we are both teachers and he won't have a chance to learn the music for a couple months.

thanks, this is a nice outcome. I can imagine it is a bit disappointing that after hosting such a nice competition there are only 2 entries. But, this is a nice way of dealing with it :D

I play the piano, but do not have the time (and now I think of it, not the equipment either), just as your friend, because I am working on a thesis this period. When I find some time I'll inform you, but do not yet count on that...

I have been working on the sax parts, I'll send them to you after I have finished them.

well I had planned on doing a couple of them anyways if there were good entries and I was more hopeful that people would explore the sax as many are afraid to compose for it or don't take it seriously or something.

It is a shame that there weren't more entrants... but i shouldn't complain. I'm finally getting someone to play one of my pieces!

I do play piano, but my piece does have some sections that requires the performers to communicate with each other (primarily the solo section in the first mvt). I also quite frankly don't have the equiptment to do any sort of good recording... so if i MUST do it, i do have the ability, but I have no problem waiting :cool:

Ok guys, well send me the sax parts when you can..It will take me a while to learn both pieces..you both have some technical sections, but I will try to record them as soon as I can.. I was trying to figure out exactly I was going to workout the solo part with the recording, Jimmy with its layered sax background..I was thinking I would record the piano alone there even if the rest is recorded together live so I could do a few different improvs and choose..but anyways, please be a little bit patient for the recordings. They will come.

Good luck and have fun playing. As for the pianist, there is no rush, but projects that take time tend to be forgotten (it is how it works with me ;) )
