TheMaskedTrumpeter Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Sorry if this sounds stupid, but what is considered an "electronic element"?
Morgri Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 Something on tape or cd. A sound made that is computer generated, an amplified instrument, a sound recorded by electronic means (i.e. getting a wave file of water dropping and using that in the composition), etc...
benxiwf Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 I'm in as well...however..are the electronics supposed to be a played part as in synth parts or can they be any electronic noises (prerecorded?) If prerecorded is ok, does every element need to be notated?
Morgri Posted April 6, 2010 Author Posted April 6, 2010 I'm in as well...however..are the electronics supposed to be a played part as in synth parts or can they be any electronic noises (prerecorded?) If prerecorded is ok, does every element need to be notated? Yes, it can be pre-recorded. You must denotate in some fashion what will happen in the electronics. You can queue when the type starts, what kind of general direction the electronics are moving (higher pitches, lower bass notes... etc). It doens't have to be just synth, no way. Electronic media has such a huge variety!
doctormusic Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 I would like to be a contestant. Unfortunately, my score is on Noteflight, so how do I put it up without putting up an external link? When do we submit our compositions?
Morgri Posted April 6, 2010 Author Posted April 6, 2010 First post edited to display when the pieces must be submitted!!!
Ferkungamabooboo Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 I would like to be a contestant. Unfortunately, my score is on Noteflight, so how do I put it up without putting up an external link? When do we submit our compositions? Noteflight can export to midi and mp3 i think. At least Midi. As for the score? Can't tell you. I got my noteflight stuff taken off too. At any rate, I'm in as an entrant or judge. Depends on if I get my computer back soon.
Jimmyjuicin Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 You said amplification counts as electric... so I'm assuming Electric Bass (as in slap) would be acceptable?
Morgri Posted April 7, 2010 Author Posted April 7, 2010 Well, sure, but I'd encourage you to be more creative then that.
Jimmyjuicin Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 alright! here's to one month of forgetting and two days of "oh crap" work!!! http://www.box.net/shared/2hazkqk6v7 http://www.box.net/shared/g6d8x83l6o Everything (except percussion) is and would be electronic. I hope this fits all the criteria!
ParanoidFreak Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 EPIC BUMP that being said, is this still on? I haven't heard a word about April's comp since the last post here.
benxiwf Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 It seems that the competitors (including me) fell through...this is out of most of our comfort zones and a few of us had busy months... JimmyJuicin wins by default it looks like haha..
composerorganist Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Hey Jimmy enjoyed your piece - very fun poppy, and a bit more interesting than quite a bit of pop music. Not entirely my style of music I gravitate to but good job for your first foray. Hope you keep trying more pieces in this idiom.
