composerorganist
Like to alert you to the 2010 season of the Look and Listen festival - John schaeffer from WQXR/WNYC radio will be there to interview and such performers as So Percussion and eighth blackbird and other groups will be playing works from Feldman, Cage as well as new premiers. http://www.lookandlisten.org/season/ Note too, deadline to submit works for the 2011 season is July 2010. (hint, hint Morgri and others - SUBMIT your stuff!) If anyone in the NYC area from YC plans to come pm me. We could go to one of the concerts. Black Orpheus
This sounds awesome! I wonder why the 2011 festival prefers submissions without piano (maybe because it's hard to lug a nice sounding instrument around), and I wonder if it puts you at a disadvantage if you submit a composition that includes piano... composerorganist
As I am a friend of one of the board members, piano rental and tuning can be expensive. Also, if the work requires manipulating the strings then the rental company may add on an extra fee. I think that is why toy piano literature is exploding - easy to carry, easy to abuse. As I wrote earlier Black, PM me if you want to come. I plan to volunteer the Saturday concert.

Black Orpheus
Luckily you have a couple of months :P Makes a lot of sense, Chris, regarding the piano.
