Elizabeth Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Sorry for not posting this yesterday! This month's competition is pretty free-flowing. The challenge is to write a composition (any style, genre, instrumentation, tempo, etc.) using the given motifs in the attatchment. Both must be used, but they do not need to directly follow one another. Like I said, implement any creative combinations of instruments (voice may be included)! It may be transposed into any key and must be at least 2 minutes long. This will be judged on primarily on creativity, then on how well you pulled off your originality (example: A tuba/xylophone duet). You must submit a PDFto qualify, but I would prefer both PDF and MP3. Because I posted this late, the deadline will not be until July 5th, 2010. I should have the results posted by that week. Judges: 1. Elizabeth (Jesusfreak1277) 2. ParanoidFreak 3. Johnbucket Participants: 1. sabiansoldier 2. impresario 3. norby 4. MattZ2007 5. TheWannaBeChopin 6. XxCransworthxX 7. paquijote 8. Maddrummer 9. Peter W 10. Finale PrintMusic 2008 - Untitled1.pdf PDF Finale PrintMusic 2008 - Untitled1
impresario Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 I will give this a go! I'll probably do a tuba marimba duet :D
Norby Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Ok I'm almost finished (98-99%) with the piece LOL :D I wanted to PM u and send it privately but I couldnt send u so I post it here. :) I need to work on the sheet music to be readable. ParanoidFreak Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I'd like to judge, if you've got the space - haven't had a lot of time to compose lately. But a lot of time to listen :santa:
paquijote Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 By the way, this is the first competition I've joined here. Do we just post a link/upload the music file to this thread? Also, is it necessary that sheet music accompany the music file?
Elizabeth Posted June 9, 2010 Author Posted June 9, 2010 Yes, you may upload the submissions to this particular thread. And for this particular competition, you must have sheet music to accompany the music file.
Elizabeth Posted June 20, 2010 Author Posted June 20, 2010 Nope! It's not too late! I'll add you in the list! Deadline is July 5th for submissions.
Elizabeth Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 Yeah! We'll have to figure out how we're going to judge the submissions together :P
Elizabeth Posted June 22, 2010 Author Posted June 22, 2010 I like it! Only, I'd like to have scores for different categories (i.e. creatity, score neatness, overall affect, etc.). What do you think? Then, maybe the best overall score? Idk- maybe I'm getting to technical with this :P

Elizabeth Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 I know post only what I did in sibelius --- Of course I need to fix some errors especially in the middle part... Hey, don't forget the score, or it can't be submitted!
Elizabeth Posted June 24, 2010 Author Posted June 24, 2010 Don't forget to sign me up Elizabeth! :D Gotcha!
impresario Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Will we be marked on how easy it is to play? Because I have a very fast high bassoon part that would e extremely challenging, and an english horn part that is completely out of it's range, but it sounds better an octave higher.

Nope- creativity and overall affect. (It does, however, need to be ACTUALLY playable!!)
impresario Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Well mine's not playable... no worries I'll just put it down the octave or give it the oboe. If I finish early am I allowed to post it on the forums?
