JamalCorrie Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Hey guys, i know this may not be the right location, but i just have a quick question. Does anyone know if there is any instrument that you breathe inwards to make a sound? I cant think of any haha. Thanks Quote
Tokkemon Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Some harmonicas have two reeds which operate depending on the direction of the wind. I.e., one reed for blowing out and one reed for sucking in. Quote

Gardener Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 You can make cool sounds on the bassoon and oboe by sucking at the attached mouthpiece. That's not really the normal way of playing them though :P Other harmonica-like instruments work similarly of course, such as accordeons, in which the air also flows in two directions, producing different results, but that's not really "breathing", since you do that with your hands. Kamen Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Also, the most obvious instrument that you always carry with yourself - your mouth. You can whistle while breathing in. It could be harder for some people in the beginning, but it's cool and works great, because, combined with breathing out, allows you to not interrupt your whistling for long periods of time. :P Quote
