Voce Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 This is sort of a trivial question, but it's been driving me crazy. I rarely come across an expression marking that I don't understand, and even then they're fairly easy to look up. But the marking for the 4th movement of Schnittke's 2nd cello concerto is "Allegretto mino", and I haven't been able to figure out (or find) what "mino" means. The only thing I can think of that comes close is "minaccioso" (menacing). Maybe it's one of those occasional instances where the composer just made up a word, hah. Help? ----- Nevermind, the actual score (which was ridiculously difficult to see without paying 2839472987429 dollars) says "vivo" instead of "mino." CD track titles are tricky bidness. ...Funny, right? ...Yeah, I didn't think so either. Quote
SSC Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 "Mino" isn't a word in Italian, as far as I'm concerned. Someone made an error in the titles there. Quote
