Wolf_88 Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I will post a list of criteria when the submission date aproaches. What i can tell you now is that this will be judged based on quality, not quantity (A 5:00 long composition will be judged the same way as a 1:00 composition). Will it be point-based or discussion-based?
The Baroque Enthusiast Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 oook ........but .....it would be soo much nicer if we had it now
Guest Anders Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I would love to put something up rigth now, but i simply don't have enough time! I've got a lot of work to do, as well as to deal with some..... psychological issues. (you know what i mean)
The Baroque Enthusiast Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Ok, no problem then, put 'em up when you're ready.
spc1st Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 t'will be point based. Does that mean we (the judges) won't be discussing the pieces amount ourselves and rank the entries independently?
Wolf_88 Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 will we be alowed to post just a finale or a sibelius file, without the mp3?
dbzgod9 Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I'd like to compete in this, but there's no guarantee I'll have the time.
Guest Anders Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Wolf: Did you read the first post? dbzgod9: I can't sign you in if you don't know for certain. Yeh'r welcome to join if you find the time!
neuhausen Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 This sounds fun!! I'd be willing to help judge if more judges are needed. -Mike PS: After this contest it would be fun to do a Christmas Carol contest, that is to say, who can write the catchiest little jingle-like melody to some Christmas Poem or something. What do you think?

What do you think? Just start a thread to announce it within this category "Music Competition". I would sign up!
Coda Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Oh, no way Letehn. xD Let's see. May I still join this competition? If so, I have some trippy ideas about a Theremin and a Piano.
Guest Anders Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Oh yes! ;] (---------- Everybody's in! we're a big happy family! So Coda, you back for good? What happened? PS: Your avatar creeps me out! It looks like one of those weird monsters from silent hill 2. :D
spc1st Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 dbzgod9: I can't sign you in if you don't know for certain. Yeh'r welcome to join if you find the time! :D I don't think it'll hurt for him to try - it's not like this a tournament where brackets need to be balanced. If he can't submit by the deadline, you can just cross his name off the list, no harm done.

Guest Anders Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 No, if everyone were to do that. I wouldn't be sure of how many judges i would need. Edit: This was a response to spc1st's post.
C. Ryan Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Guys, Question: If I sit down at my piano, hit "Record," and completely improv a 5 minute or so piece, then submit it as a simple MP3 with no notation, will that qualify? Chris

Chris Improvisation is still a piece of music, exept you won't need any recording of that in a studio........
The Baroque Enthusiast Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Ha, wow, I was actually thinking a few days ago, there should be a separate competition for improvisation, but only for the people who can upload their mp3's elsewhere.
Guest Anders Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 A discussion thread devoted to this can be found here
Matusleo Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 Although it is rather late at this point, I was wondering if I could throw my hat into the ring as well for the compeition.
The Baroque Enthusiast Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 I was wondering.....maybe we should a few more judges? Right now they are outnumbered by contestants, 5 to 12. Maybe at least one more judge and I think we'll be set.
Guest Anders Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 Yeah, we do need another judge. I will as around, J.Lee perhaps?
