Peter_W. Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Not to be bitter: IMO, JG shoulda had that one hands down, especially considering #1. Maybe I'm prejudiced against polka music, but I'd never program that winning piece into a brass choir concert set. It's far too repetitive and has none of the fun cornet and baritone flash and trash that the old brass bands are known for, what makes them fun to listen to. Congrats, anyway. To all. :) Thanks, Imp, for putting on the competition and getting it closed promptly! -Pete
SergeOfArniVillage Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Thanks for the comp! I didn't win, but it served as inspiration for helping me make one of my favorite pieces so far
JijGaat Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Hey Guys, Correct me if I am wrong, but I was wondering how phrey got more than 160 points? I thought no score meant no points in that category? that means that the max rating without score is 160 (200-40), right? I don't want to be hateful or anything, but I just noticed it and wanted to point it out. @ Peter: this competition made me make a piece I actually like quite a lot too, so I think this has been great for all of us, thanks again for the nice competition :) greetz
JijGaat Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 ah ok :D I only saw 4 judges in the opening post, that's why ^_^. But now I am guessing where we all lost so many points on :P
impresario Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 I forgot Jason as one of the judges, my apologies!
Jimmyjuicin Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Oh wow! Did not expect that! :phones: yaaaaay! Nice job everyone else too! All of them were great!
Jimmyjuicin Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Oh and I just wanted to point out (and I mean this without offense to anyone or anything like that) but i noticed the repetition bit... Polkas tend to be a bit repetetive in general... it's just the nature of that style. At least in my experience it is...
JeremyL Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Congrats to Jimmy! Thanks for the review, I might try fleshing it out sometime later to make a full-blown piece... doubtful, though.
