xrsbit Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Can anybody help me. what recording device do I need to record myself playing on the piano. And I need it to be able to connect to my computer via USB if possible. I know I'm such a noob. Quote
PhantomOftheOpera Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Well, is it an acoustic piano or a digital one? A digital one should have an audio out, all you need is a standard mono cable to connect to audio in on your soundcard. If it is an acoustic piano you will need a microphone which you will also connect to a audio input on your soundcard. The only way I know of how you can record something trough usb is to have an external soundcard which connects to usb. And to that soundcard you connect the mic or the audio out of your digi-piano. Gijs Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 It kind of depends of the quality your after. I'm assuming you have a acoustic piano. If you want a proffesional sound I suggest going to a music store and ask a proffesional what he thinks you can do. This is perhaps the best suggestion in either way, but if you want decent recorsing their is a protable hard disk mic called H2. I think this a great solution for recording yourself anywhere. It's not very expensive and it works quit good. Quote
xrsbit Posted July 15, 2010 Author Posted July 15, 2010 The H2 looks like what I'm looking for. I'll try to find something like it. Thanks guys. Quote
JijGaat Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I know of a converter that converts XLR to USB, it is a homemade thingy from thomann.de it is called the t-bone .. You could just connect any microphone to it and just plug and play! I have had ok results with my shure sm57! Quote
