Peter_W. Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Okay, so I've got a reduced window open, and there is no sideway scroll bar. The left side of the screen simply disappears into nothing. Yuck. Please fix. Quote
Tokkemon Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 So Chopin's oft-quoted fix of the network and the forum logins being inextricably intertwined apparently has not been realised. I was logged in via the network, then went onto the forum. It indeed was logged in there. But then I went back to the network after a couple hours and I was logged out again. If that's a time-out issue (and yes, I did check "Remember Me"), it should apply to the forum TOO if the two logins are tied. Otherwise, all we've gotten is a new coat of paint on old code that doesn't work. Quote
Tokkemon Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 When click the "Home" button on the menu, it still takes you to the Forum homepage if you're on the forums. Why was this never fixed? It should go to the root domain index of the site, not the subdomain. I don't need two differently-named buttons to take me to the same place. EDIT: Apparently the site logo doesn't go to the homepage either! Quote
Tokkemon Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 While I can understand the rationale for fixed-width (its not my fave), it has to be handled properly! When my browser window is narrower than the middle section, there's no horizontal scroll bar to adjust. I tired it in several different browsers and it does the same which indicates its a site problem and not a local one. My default system is Windows 7 with Chrome 6.0.472.63 Quote
Tokkemon Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Last one of these, I promise. The networking buttons (notifications and friend requests) along the very top don't work when using the forum. They just lead to the homepage. Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Justin, thanks for your enthusiasm in trying to make the site as good as possible! It's always nice to see someone who cares that much about their community  So Chopin's oft-quoted fix of the network and the forum logins being inextricably intertwined apparently has not been realised. Otherwise, all we've gotten is a new coat of paint on old code that doesn't work. Weird! I'm also using Chrome but I don't have this problem. I also don't haven't encountered it on FF but I'll keep trying to recreate what happened to you. Also, I used to have a browser that refused to keep me logged in to YC after we updated to the network no matter what I did. In the end, it was a browser issue and not the forum  When click the "Home" button on the menu, it still takes you to the Forum homepage if you're on the forums. Why was this never fixed? I tired it in several different browsers and it does the same which indicates its a site problem and not a local one. This is definitely a site issue. I tried the test site on multiple browsers and ran into the same thing you did. Elgg out of the box doesn't have this issue either. It will have to be passed on to the developers. Thanks for taking the time to bring these to notice! Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I I think the colour of "Thanks" should be changed to contrast a little better  1 Quote
xrsbit Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Where is the recent compositions list? If it is gone, how do we find new uploaded pieces? Quote
Peter_W. Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 Also, when logging in, pushing "return/enter" when done doesn't enter the login information. That's annoying (and something the old site didn't have trouble with). Just out of curiosity, did Chopin start with completely new code for this site?? Why didn't he start with the code from the previous version (which didn't have a lot of these problems) and simply streamline them to update/fix/whatever? Quote
jawoodruff Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Annoying! I went to update my profile. Typed in all my information. Hit save. Got directed to a white screen! Typed in the url for the forum again.. and then went to check my profile... no change. Quote
jawoodruff Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Mike, It will not let me upload anything to the network. When I do, I get this: Say's I'm not allowed to use a .jpeg image extension on the board... wtf!? In case that doesn't load, looks broken to me, here is the link to the screenshot: http://www.box.net/shared/oxi10xja2u Quote
Mitchell Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Urg, what the hell is this? Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'youngdatabase'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/ycforum/public_html/cache/skin_cache/cacheid_4/skin_forum.php on line 103 Error connecting: Quote
chopin Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Mitchell, are you still having this problem? Quote
ChsBt0ne Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I can't seem to successfully upload the PDF score for my composition, which is obviously something of a problem. Quote
jawoodruff Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I can't seem to successfully upload the PDF score for my composition, which is obviously something of a problem. Yes, we are having difficulties with the uploader. Please be patient as we try to fix this. Quote
Mitchell Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Mitchell, are you still having this problem? Yes. I can get into threads if they're in the most recent column, that's how I can post in here, but I cannot go anywhere else in the forums. Quote
HeckelphoneNYC Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Well, the first time I clicked on "Log in" I would get directed to a page that had all of my friends status updates. The next time nothing happened. Then the next time the screen layout changed. Then, the 4th time I finally got logged in. Bad, eh? EDIT: And now, when I click on a forum, I get this: Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'youngdatabase'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/ycforum/public_html/cache/skin_cache/cacheid_4/skin_forum.php on line 103 Error connecting: Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 For now: wiki.youngcomposers.com It's still fully functional, it just hasn't been updated yet. Quote
Sofie Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 one of my pieces disappeared !!!! silly new website Quote
Silva Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Ok. When I click the "play music" link in one of my pieces (Sonata)I get a 403 error (Forbidden). Quote
chopin Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Ok. When I click the "play music" link in one of my pieces (Sonata)I get a 403 error (Forbidden). Please reupload your media in this case. I'm not sure what happened, but apparently this is just another hiccup. Anything major such as music missing from a profile is a little more serious, and I will research why that is, and what can be done to fix these issues. 1 Quote
Silva Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 I reuploaded and worked fine =D But the player has a little bug (Shows 23:00:01 when plays) Quote
