Guest John Pax Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 This has now been resolved. No, It hasn't. Clicking "update my avatar" redirects me to the Youncomposers Homepage. Quote

chopin Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 JohnPax, please verify if you are logged into the network. This is an annoyance that I am looking to address, however it is not a bug. Quote

Yes, that did it - I was logged into the forums but not the network :s Also, this appears to just change my profile picture, we've been able to do that for some time through the user settings - is there still no way to change my FORUM picture? xrsbit Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I've also wondered how you can have a different profile pic and avatar. Quote

robinjessome Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I've also wondered how one can have a different profile pic and avatar. Profile pic and avatar are one and the same. Quote
Guest John Pax Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Profile pic and avatar are one and the same. No. Changing my profile picture doesn't effect my forum avatar. Just have a look http://www.youngcomposers.com/pg/profile/JohnPax My profile picture is Rachmaninoff and my forum avatar is Chopin. I've tried changing it to several different pictures and the profile picture is the only thing that changes. Quote
chopin Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Glad to see that fixed the problem. Also, to make things easier, the avatar and profile picture are the same. Thus, your profile picture IS your avatar, and vice versa. 2 Quote

I've changed it 3 times in 4 hours by following the little link below my picture. My forum avatar is still the same picture it's been since I joined. Quote
chopin Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Give it time to synch up with the forum. If you keep changing it, you will most likely miss the scheduled time of synchronization, and have to wait for the next cycle. It might take about an hour or less to synch up. Edit: I will check back in a few hours. If your picture doesn't update there may be a bug I will look into. Quote

If you're going to do it like this you need to be consistent with nomenclature and not have the ability to change your "avatar" or "profile pic," whatever you're calling it, in multiple places. You should be able to handle everything you need to within your settings. But why not keep it so that we have separate profile pics and forum avatars? That wouldn't be confusing as long as you could handle both clearly within your settings. If you're looking for input, I prefer to have my forum avatar separate from my profile pic because it's more likely that people are going to look at my forum posts than at my profile. I don't want an image of myself showing up on all of my posts, but I wouldn't mind having an image of myself in my profile. 1 Quote

Peter_W. Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 Issue: the "notification" doodad on the upper right shows "new" whenever something new is available. That's cool. But it STILL says "new" after you've clicked on it and looked at the notification. Fix please. :) Quote
Peter_W. Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 Something positive: thank you for including a "collapse" function for the users-online-today list. ;D That was a pleasant surprise. Quote
Peter_W. Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 Another issue. The chat bar, when open, does not adjust to "restore" size windows. Extremely annoying. Quote
HeckelphoneNYC Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Uhhh my profile picture is not my avatar, it's the same avatar I had about 5 months ago and I want to change it..... Edit: It works! Quote
Peter_W. Posted March 7, 2011 Author Posted March 7, 2011 Okay: Mike, if you're going to insist on putting the player at the top (I STILL say it looks ugly and is unnecessary if we bring back the "Recently Uploaded Compositions" page), then you need to either allow different sound formats to be supported by the player (like midi and wav), disallow uploads of non-mp3 files to the network, or write some code to make it so any upload that does not have an mp3 is NOT automatically pasted into that player. Peter_W. Posted March 7, 2011 Author Posted March 7, 2011 (edited) Central justification of everything = fail. Please fix. Looks terrible almost everywhere. There are a couple spots it looks okay, and that's probably why Mike did it. But the blanket formatting isn't working. All you're doing is inviting a new slew of projects to work on, fixing the changes you DIDN'T intend to make when you went ahead and centrally justified everything. Edited March 7, 2011 by Peter_W. chopin Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Are you talking about the featured work at the top? Quote
Peter_W. Posted March 7, 2011 Author Posted March 7, 2011 No, I'm talking about every single item of text on this website. Including, but not limited to, posts, signatures, profile blurbs next to posts, the user list, # users reading this topic. Quote
