chopin Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 It's definitely accurate, I double checked my query. The thing is, YC respects privacy, so if you are logged in anonymously, you won't display up there. Are you someone who logs in anonymously? Quote
jrcramer Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 no. I can see myself in the activity feed, so I guess I am not anonymous ;) Quote
chopin Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 We'll have to do a test on Saturday. When I see you online on Saturday, I want you to click on a piece of music. Then I will run the mysql query that displays the info in the news ticker to see what is going on, this will help me diagnose the problem. Quote
jrcramer Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 ok. if i appear online, please remind me, cause my memory isnt working properly recently ;) Ok, small update. I have seen myself now, but the mentioned names appear more than coincidently often I have checked my own pages: I decided to cope the text, and paste it here. Looking at the code the URL refers to my page, but the names do not fit... Oddly clicking on their names I go to their profiles, and not to mine... Guest John Pax Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Note: It is possible and very easy to download scores that people have uploaded. Not sure if this is wanted.. Quote
hopper Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 This isn't really an "issue" so much of an annoyance or a suggestion, but I'm not sure where else to put it... Basically, I've had a really hard time finding the username/profile link of the composer on composition detail pages (this one, for instance). At first, I thought it wasn't there at all, but after scanning the page for a couple minutes, I finally found it: all the way at the bottom of the page. The reason, of course, is that the "We also suggest..." section takes up a TON of room. I'd like to see the "Submitter" and "File Information" moved above the suggestions, to make the information easier to find at a glance. Just a thought. Quote
HeckelphoneNYC Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 When I am posting something onto someone's status, half the time it doesn't tell me I've posted it. So I click it and click it and it never says "saved post". So I give up. When I come back, it says I've posted the same thing. over and over and over! Very annoying. Please fix! Quote
anna812 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 I can't access the signup or how to apply lessons on the lesson page. Quote
SYS65 Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Hey, sorry to report this but the problem I mentioned 2 pages ago, is now worse: When I go to a music page and the player starts, no matter if I stop it or not, all access to YC is stuck for at least 1 minute, in the same or different window/tab, any click to any other page gets just waiting until this following page appears: after that code appears I refresh and everything is normal, but if I go to a music page again, same story, this used to happen sometimes, now happens always. Firefox 8.0 Win7 x64 Quote
SYS65 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Looks like the problem is only when the mp3 is still being loaded and I click to request another page, once is fully loaded it "appears" (for now) that it doesn't happen. Quote
siwi Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I have just come across a thread I cannot open, here. The browser says that 'Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.' and adds that it may be due to cookies settings. However I have set it to always accept cookies from this site and it will still not load the page. I felt this should be brought to the attention of the technical mods as, whilst it may be a problem at my end, it may also be YC. Quote
Tokkemon Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Here ya go: http://www.youngcomposers.com/t31744/beginner-having-trouble-getting-started/ I fixed the title. The em-dash was causing issues in the URL. Perhaps the devs can note this for future? Quote
jrcramer Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 the current forum page is too cluttered. I like the music/upload section to be integrated with the forums. I think it is important to have a similar way of accessing. The current way is to different in layout, and the informationdensityis too high: lots of names, titles, colors denoting the need for reviews. All useful info, but please not the first thing to see when I open the forum page. sorry for bugging... Quote
chopin Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 That's understandable, and I have a solution. The directory we have now simply needs to be formatted so that it looks like the forum style, I can do that. I could also put the main 12 categories on the homepage to have it look like forum topics like we used to have, if that is what the majority would want. Quote
Tokkemon Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Ok, no. Having the directory on the main page is an absolute waste of space! Please get rid of it and bring back the old forum structure. That would be infinitely more helpful than 15 ways to categorize pieces, of which no one needs to categorize. 1 Quote
jrcramer Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 the way the header of the old forum looks is nice and compact. can it be something like that? it would look like the old forum was back, but with the new and handy engine under the hood. this would be my preference. this is basically what @Tokkemon said, only nicer: :) 1 Quote
p7rv Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Ok, so I've been browsing around this site for a while, and I have some constructive criticism. These are my major gripes so far:1-I noticed that I can't seem to re-upload my score for one of my compositions (pressing the "upload" button does nothing)2-Page loading time. It's not great to have to wait nearly a minute for a page to load. Worse than browsing on 56k back in the 90's. Not sure what the technical reason for this is, but I suspect that a software fix might be possible (as opposed to adding servers/bandwidth).3-Music playing automatically on page load. This is unnecessary, and becomes annoying when combined with page loading times4-The placement of the "recommend for radio" button when there is no score. I have pressed this button multiple times by accident, intending to see the score of a piece. Consistent placement would be better.5-Ability to see if replies to your reviews are made would be nice (ie, see that somebody added a new review under yours, without going back to the same composition first).6-Ability to browse database based on any criterion (such as form or recording quality, etc.) Would also be great.Paring down interactive elements from every page (and making them accessible on demand/ a special page instead) would probably make things faster and remove visual clutter.Anyway, love the site, lots of great ideas & features. Hope that it gets even better in the future ;) Quote
SYS65 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I can't switch to full version in mobil, the usual botton now only sends me to top of page but remains in mobil site, (was still working 2 days ago) Quote

Guest Kibbletime Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 humble requests: higher quality streaming and option to download. make the names of people who rate below three stars public to prevent abuse. i think anonymity for high raters is fine. people would be discouraged to be generous if they could be seen as sycophantic or are sensitive about condoning certain music. group multiple pieces by the same uploader together. when the user already has a spot additional files would appear under an expandable list like comments in status updates. to counteract the risk of additional files being buried (when you're on the sixth spot after three weeks for example new files would be disadvantaged and you're already tired of waiting for the slot to clear) the spot moves upwards each time the list is updated. freedom to delete your own shouts and music and change your name and tagline. lifting of censorship. prevent large images from distorting the shape of dividers. allow scrollbar to appear when the width is exceeded for example. mark styles Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I'm having trouble with the mp3 player.. Something like the buffers are wrong..  I played several pieces from different people, I get a regular 'tick' like every second.  This never happened before..  Things always change, seeing the site look different kind of threw me.. I liked the old look better..  I'll get used to it.. Quote

Tokkemon Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Can you PLEASE get rid of that silly banner on the top showing a very 1995-looking title in block letters with crappy photoshopping? Having it bounce up and down is certainly not helping either. 2 Quote
Stirling_Radliff Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Also, it might be better to make the homepage the forum instead of the uploads page. The first impression of the site should be, I think, the community. And maybe have a side tab giving a feed of recently uploaded works and a link at the top going to recent uploads. 1 Quote
danishali903 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Can we also get back the # of views/downloads for each piece back? Quote
