Guest John Pax Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Sounds good Mike! This one's a little buggy, when a user has no uploads it seems to tell people that I've never reviewed a piece. :( Quote
Guest John Pax Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 The "new piece" player up top. It appears to have picked up Heckle adding a movement to his piece as a new piece.. this is cool. However, he added a 3rd movement and a broken link to his 2nd movement is displayed but the midi download is the audio of his 3rd mvmt... Don't know what happened there. Quote
Elizabeth Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Hey- so.. I know I brought this up, but I figured I'd post it here too: The site keeps logging me off as I move to different portions. The forums are just fine, but, for instance, when I want to look at a member's profile or comment on their piece, I get bumped off. This is really starting to irk me....is there any way to fix this? Quote
Peter_W. Posted March 10, 2011 Author Posted March 10, 2011 Is it just me, or does JF have almost 30000 reviews on each of her recent uploads? Another thing: whatever happened to the suggestion for a simple way to upload compositions? It's still confusing. There should be a pretty easy way to do it, as it is the primary function of this website. Like a button somewhere obvious that leads right to it. Quote
chopin Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 The logging off problem is something I am having the devs try and fix, starting today, this is a bit more of a complicated issue for me to fix on my own. As for the music uploads, I suppose I could add a universal button at the top, I figured that navigating to the forum might have been straight forward enough, but maybe not. As for the large post count problem, that was just a subtle error, all fixed. Quote
Elizabeth Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Is it just me, or does JF have almost 30000 reviews on each of her recent uploads? Sheesh, I didn't even notice that. That'd be nice, though....haha Quote
SYS65 Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 The new "Latest Music" and "Reviews" counter was a great idea, really, I just think the word "Review" is not appropriate. Not all posts are what one could call a Review, and with past "lots of reviewers" age the term "Review" is going down every time, and with this, is even more devaluated, now all posts are Reviews and all members Reviewers. Perhaps could be renamed to comments, commentaries, opinions, notes, observations, critics.... (But It is very useful indeed) EDIT: Also the player in the board "Listen and Review" Quote
Guest John Pax Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 The new set-up for latest music is great! Works well with those who haven't uploaded anything either. Can everyone read that small font though? Quote
Black Orpheus Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Can everyone read that small font though? I can't! No, I can, but I think it's too small. Why not cut down the number of "Latest Music" pieces to 5 and make the font the same as above (I mean the same font as where it lists Group, Posts, etc...)? Did you have to make the font that small to fit in Views? Whatever you decide, it is a nice feature and it's looking better. Quote
jrcramer Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Hi Chopin. I really like the feature and nice to see you adding stuff like views too. The thing remains that posts get really lengthy. Like in above picture: a post of 4 lines, which is not really long, but is not uncommon either; I have an one line signature, and then there is a lot of nothing: empty. Add to that that I even use no avatar; if I had there had been even more white space. My suggestion, which can be disregarded ad libitum: For unity of layout I would use the same font and font-size as the is used in the info above, group, posts, location etc... I think the last 10 is too much. Although the overview is really nice. Maybe you can add this in the pop up window next to the username (show profile). I use this quite some times, and limit it here to the last 3 or 5 works. Another little issue. I like the concept of the coloring: the infobox in another color than statsbox. Please mind the padding/margin of both. I think it will be the most pleasing if all margins are the same. Not the lower margin of the infobox is out of balance. I fear this is a difficult CSS thing, but as a FF user I would kindly ask that you look into this :D my 2ct. Quote
jrcramer Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Oh. Addendum: When you replace the word 'Reviews' with 'Posts' (which is a shorter word) you can move the numbers of the amount of posts and views a bit more to the right. For me the actual title is more important that stats, so maybe it is truncated too soon? I see, though, that took care of aligning the reviews column to the above infobox. Wait. I have made a mockup (if you don't mind) How about this: 1 Quote

Guest John Pax Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Quite seriously, what's happening with the "file not found" bug. Every piece I got back to listen to of other peoples, seems to be missing.. it's getting beyond ridiculous. Are we going to be able to hear these pieces again without asking the person each time to re-upload? 1 Quote
Marius Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Why not cut down the number of "Latest Music" pieces to 5 and make the font the same as above (I mean the same font as where it lists Group, Posts, etc...)? This, please. The feature is an excellent idea, but the text is tiny right now and it extends to the point where even the shortest post takes up more space than it has any need to because of the giant works list sprawling off the left end of it. I'm also with jcramer in that the titles are the most important piece of info, so we should toy with the column spacings to ensure that they aren't getting truncated so soon while the numbers are swimming in empty space. Peter_W. Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 I second every suggestion in the last two pages. Quote
Guest John Pax Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Got this error just now trying to load the forums main page. Quote
Peter_W. Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 Alright, the "remember me" feature apparently doesn't apply to the network. It's really annoying. And I believe it has been brought up before. Quote
Peter_W. Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 Here's another. http://forum.youngcomposers.com/t28818/report-problems-when-reviewing/page__view__findpost__p__369867 Quote
composerorganist Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Cannot upload compositions - just shows what I have uploaded - have I reached my memory capacity? Quote
chopin Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Peter_W and JohnPax, can you try reuploading your avatars? I want to see if they sync up this time. Quote

Berlioz Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Uploading isn't working. I start uploading a piece, it says "Uploading..." and the little blue progress bar never shows up. It stays like that indefinitely. HLEP! Quote
Peter_W. Posted March 20, 2011 Author Posted March 20, 2011 Alright, old problem since the beginning of this incarnation of the site: the "Like" link which shows users who liked an uploaded piece links to a window which has WHITE background. So you can't see the names of the users. Without highlighting it. It looks...dumb. Quote
