Marius Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Hi guys! I write articles for a site called ComposerFocus and I wanted to share them here as well since the topics may pertain to all young composers, not just media folks. Feel free to leave comments here, or preferably right on the article. A lot of careful work goes into creating a successful digital mock-up: you have to work with good samples, use them effectively, and make sure that the final mix mimics the sound of a real recording — but how?Even if you have the best samples and have set up your reverb well, you still have some work to do. Luckily, it’s quite simple and can make a significant difference in how real your mix sounds. The missing link is panning, and this tutorial will teach you to be aware of how to use it to your advantage. . Read the rest: http://bit.ly/9gYS6V I hope you learn something! Quote

bryla Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I've found that good (realistic) panning comes from the delaying one side on the direct sound level by a matter of hundreds of a milisecond. Quote
Marius Posted October 25, 2010 Author Posted October 25, 2010 Yes indeed — and there's the whole system of "power panning" as well that I didn't get into. It's a surprisingly deep aspect of mixing. Quote
MehranB Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I had a question. Does east west symphonic orchestra have realistic panning it self? Or I need to pan them? Quote
