Guest John Pax Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 I don't think this is a bug but it's definitely an issue. I linked a friend of mine a piece I'd uploaded however I ended up having to give them my username and password so that they could listen to it as they kept getting asked to log in. Can we please make it so that ANYONE can listen, but you must be registered to comment/like etc etc. Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Agreed. We've been discussing this at the staff meetings. It would be awesomely useful. Quote
SYS65 Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 yeah I can't invite anyone either, YC looks totally blocked for non members, is it possible to make the pages public but the download score link for members only ? would that be enough or you want public the music and score ? Quote
jawoodruff Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Personally, I don't have any problems in regards to letting guests comment on posts. As I've mentioned in the meetings, we do (and have) gotten a lot of professional conductors, music directors, etc. visiting the site. It would be nice to let them have access to viewing and commenting are works. We have plenty of moderators as well to watch for spammers,etc... so I don't see any point really in limiting viewing/commenting access to strictly members. Makes us seem like a closed community afraid to let our music be heard. Quote

Sure, they'll come to the top as they're spammed, but there's enough for staff to do that's a bit more important than cutting noise. But having it as an open portfolio isn't a bad idea. Didn't realize it already wasn't. Quote
SYS65 Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 I agree, open comments won't work well, but public listening, of course, I'm sure that will be changed soon Quote
Tokkemon Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I think it should be like YouTube. Pieces are public (unless the user wants it private), but only members with accounts are allowed to comment. Quote
MiggTorr Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Just throwing my two cents in: I agree. :) Quote

Agree I don't see any reason why we would not want our music heard by the greatest possible audience IMO. Quote
