I'm my own Toccata Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 I just had a thought, Should we give everybody free reign with the last meaure of whoever writes before them? So that they can make the ideas flow better. With my ending, it's hard to do anything else with it... So... yeah! -Jon Quote
Jeremiah Hong Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 I'm too lazy to go back and fix it. lol! Yep, I know what you mean. ;) It's nearly impossible for me to go back and "fix" a piece that has already been "finished". Quote

I'm my own Toccata Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 We all need to put our names where we started writing! I'll do it for Jeremiah Hong and CreationArtist... ViolaDuetPiano_1__1_.MUS Quote

Jeremiah Hong Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Yay, the piece is over...that sucked. That was way too short. We need more people. Should we do another one? Quote
I'm my own Toccata Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Im pretty sure more people are going to write on it. Nico and some other people said they were going to write some. So who's next? Quote
I'm my own Toccata Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Dude, I'm so sorry. I thought your part was CreationArtist for 19 measures!!! I'll fix it, Sorry!!! Quote

Mitchell Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Ha, thanks. Only one person could've wrote a beginning as genius as that, and it's me. Jk. Quote
Jeremiah Hong Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Im pretty sure more people are going to write on it. Nico and some other people said they were going to write some. Yes, but the other people who said they would pitch in are not coming for at least two weeks; Nico is at Italy, I dunno where Marius is, and Austin is at band camp, so don't you think we should get started on another piece for right now? We can always go back to the other one when they come back. Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Marius is here but hes leaving on.... Thursday for like 6 weeks. Quote
Mitchell Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Okay, well if we're staring a new one, we may as well do a brass quartet. Or a non-string quartet of some sort. Quote
Jeremiah Hong Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 1. List of people helping 2. Instrumentation: ie. brass quartet, solo piano, flute and oboe, ect. 3. Structure/style: ie. sonata(classical), fugue(barouqe), toccata, free-form, ect. 4. Key and time signature 5. Order of who goes when ------------------------------- I think we should do the above process in order, for a more organized piece. Quote
Mitchell Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 I think structure is pretty much goign to be ignored, because so many people have their own ideas. Maybe there should be another forum where people can start their own and make their own instrumentations and keys and such. That'd be way better. Quote
johannhowitzer Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 I liked the ending a little, but I really hated the beginning. Quote
I'm my own Toccata Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 1. I'm helping. 2. Wind Quartet - Bassoon, Clarinet in Bb, 2 x oboes? That alright? 3. Haha. . . structure . . . that's silly! 4. Key . . . we had one flat last time so let's go with 1 sharp this time . . . last one minor this one major . . . voila! G major!!! 5. I'm going fourth! These are my suggestions, are they ok? Quote
Guest JohnGalt Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 If I may be allowed to suggest anything, if you're going to disregard form, make sure the transitions are smooth if you want a coherent piece >.< I liked the ending of the piece. Quote
Marius Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 You guys are starting to annoy me. This is why committees should never be allowed to make decisions; it takes forever. I liked the ending of the piece. Me too; that's where the sound stopped and I could unplug my ears again. So I'm being a bit of a dictator (of music, in this case) and getting you started. I've ignored all previous junk and taken the liberty of making a beginning for you to work with. It's for woodwind quintet, in G Major; as suggested by Mr. Toccata. The oboes are scored as seperate staves because I think it makes more sense to use them very independantly if you bother having 2 of them. Have at it and enjoy. And don't make it suck. Dirk Gently Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 I did a little work on it (it's all right, but I don't like it much). I made a few changes on what you did, as well, Marius. Sorry if that's against the rules or anything :D. Anyway, here's a few more measures on it: Forest Song.pdff.MUS Quote
Mitchell Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 I like the beinning a lot, I'd continue this, but I'm terribly slow in Finale. Quote
spirit_of_music Posted June 26, 2006 Author Posted June 26, 2006 I'm taking part! Can I do it on the MIDI one or do I have to download Finale? Quote
