Peter_W. Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I really think it'd reduce confusion if there were some prominent notice in each upload forum that threads are started by upload, not by post. When I first came here, it confused me pretty badly. And I see newbies are still confused by it. -Peter Quote
Marius Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I agree with you. Do you think that having a notice would be the most efficient way to get this across? I wonder what the most obvious way of communicating this would be. The issue with making it part of the sign-up process (which is something we talked about at one point) is that most people just ignore any fine print that you throw at them while they make an account. Peter_W. Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 I think a prominent "Upload new composition" button in the upload forum next to the "you cannot post a new thread in this forum" notice would do it. Also, uploading new compositions in general needs to be easier to access. I think I mentioned this elsewhere, but it's a bit of a pain to go to profile and sort through the binder to do a simple function. And it's a HUGE pain to explain to newbies who don't know how to do it. Quote
chopin Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 YC Classic offers a way to just click on "Upload Composition" within the forum. However YC Modern doesn't account for this. Are you referring to YC Modern? Because YC Modern is still a prototype skin, but everyone is still defaulted to YC Classic. Uploading a piece is pretty straight forward on this skin, no? It takes the user directly to the upload application. Quote
Peter_W. Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 I'm talking modern. I can't stand using classic anymore. Modern is much, much more sleek, though classic has more useful features (like the activity button and the upload button). Quote
chopin Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Got it, I will address those issues, they should be quite simple to fix. Quote
