Crossover music

Do like Gonzales?

Never heard of him - wait, doesn't he play for Spain?

Do like a mix between Bach and jazz?

If you're thinking of Jacques Loussier, then yes. His records are very well made and actually enhance, rather than pillage or reduce, the pieces they are based on. It works because Bach himself was such a great improviser and his music lends itself to the sort of process that jazz musicians use - as well as Loussier's excellent imagination. I do not consider this to be crossover though as it is considerably closer to art music than popular music.

Do you like Tansmans Sonatina 2 'Transantlantique'?

Yes, it was quite pleasant. The feel was somewhere between tango and ragtime. Not a masterpiece but pretty good.

Do you like Einaudi?

God no. Puerile, repetitive dross tossed off in a couple of minutes and probably best used as elevator musak, not that elevator music should be encouraged at all. I really don't understand why for a few years it was so popular, other than aggressive marketing and massive airplay on Classic FM. Like a few other composers whose work I hate, part of the problem is the plethora of admirers who start copying his style and producing even more aural litter that is now not only crap but derivative too. Still, Ludovico probably knows what disposible trash his music is and is laughing all the way to the bank.
