Monkeysinfezzes Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 hello. Going to the University of Western Ontario next year, I've noticed several composers in residence work with electro-acoustic music. What exactly IS electro-acoustic music? Quote
Nightscape Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Well, it's simply music that uses both electronic sources (such as a cd/tape or computer generated or modified sounds) and acoustic sources (like a piano or violin). I didn't know what this was either for a long time, but it makes sense because it is "electro-acoustic". Quote
David Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Well, it's simply music that uses both electronic sources (such as a cd/tape or computer generated or modified sounds) and acoustic sources (like a piano or violin). I didn't know what this was either for a long time, but it makes sense because it is "electro-acoustic". Also includes music where an acoustic sound is made (instrument, ambient sounds... whatever) and then treated with a computer or effects processors. The 'electro' part of it can just as easily be live as the acoustic part. Quote
