xrsbit Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I am offering to record piano pieces by composers here, free of charge. This is the quality of my recording device: http://forum.youngco...-improvisation/ (EDIT: I have a better one now: http://www.box.com/s/6bt1ksnjaszy9bplt17n) If you want me to look at your piece, reply to this thread with the sheet music and some sort of rendering of the music attached or linked to. I may not want to record your music. I will consider difficulty, quality of the music, the composer, (an active member will have a better chance) and length. I may also take a long time to practice and record it. Up to months. If I am not willing to record your thing, then I'll tell you straight away so you have no false hopes. Otherwise I may still record it eventually. Shoot. Quote
Morgri Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 you could record my prelude. :D It's posted on the site already with another recording, but two recordings are always nice. :P Quote
composerorganist Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Here , give this a try. Not difficult at all. Inspired by the very late piano pieces of Listz. forjason.pdf forjason_0.mp3 MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu forjason_0 > next PDF forjason Quote
bkho Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 That is really an awesome thing to offer. Here is my humble submission, though I understand if you can't get to it for whatever reason as I'm not as much of a regular as many others due to time constraints on my "day job." J.S.Hauntor Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 This is really neat! I wish I had the recording equipment to make a similar offer for trumpet. (Although, solo piano pieces are much more common.) Quote
bkho Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 That's the only thing I've written for keyboard that I know for sure is actually playable. If it's too long, I understand if you can't get to it, though even if you were only able to do part of it, that still would be great! Quote
SergeOfArniVillage Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 That's really cool Ian! How proficient are you at the piano? I'm not asking you to record this piece in the link below, but I'm curious, do you think you could play it if you wanted to? http://forum.youngcomposers.com/music/47/mirror/ Quote
xrsbit Posted July 23, 2011 Author Posted July 23, 2011 I'll try to record at least some of it, bkho. Yeah Serge, although probably with some mistakes. But I am not willing to practice that much for this thread. Quote
xrsbit Posted July 24, 2011 Author Posted July 24, 2011 Two recordings of johnbucket's prelude with mistakes in both, but in different places. http://www.box.net/shared/x0k0l9nfvq8xe978xn68 http://www.box.net/shared/geirp4ixpjmjv7aild76 Quote
bkho Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Very well done on johnbucket's work. Whatever you can do on my piece is much appreciated. Thanks again for offering this. Quote
xrsbit Posted July 26, 2011 Author Posted July 26, 2011 Morgri's prelude. http://www.box.net/shared/csn92u6btr1emobav30m Quote
jawoodruff Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 If you want, you could look at this of mine: http://forum.youngcomposers.com/music/16/practical-mage/ I'd be extremely excited if you could! :D Quote
xrsbit Posted July 26, 2011 Author Posted July 26, 2011 The new score viewer does not let me download the pdf files, so you guys will have to attach it or give a link to somewhere I can download the pdf. Quote
jawoodruff Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 PDF attached. Sorry, forgot about that! Finale 2009 - miniature two.pdf PDF Finale 2009 - miniature two Quote
xrsbit Posted August 1, 2011 Author Posted August 1, 2011 composerorganist's Nocturne for Jason. http://www.box.net/shared/qspxbxyloplixfy1qxf8 I think you notated a wrong note in bar 63, the second right hand chord. You don't have a flat for the highest note. Or was it intentional? Also, I don't see why the section from bars 70-75 is written with F flats in the right hand instead of easier to read E naturals. JonSlaughter Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Ian: It would be awesome(for me ;) if you could record something I've written. Anyone of these would be awesome: http://sites.google.com/site/jonslaughter/home Obviously if you happen to like any one of them then choose that one. The one most people seem to like is the canon in C. The score isn't always notated for the performer(for example the "invention" in Eb and "imitato" in C are notated more for analytics) and some pieces/parts are not completely playable by only two hands. Most pieces are rather short. I personally like the Abstract Dissonance piece the most but I don't think your going to be able to play it unless you have 3 arms ;) Feel free to make any artistic changes if you decide to record anything... Thanks, Jon Quote
composerorganist Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Thanks for the recording - pretty good job. Thanks for the tips on the score I fixed them. I realize the voicing is a little tough in some spots and I would tell a pianist to go for greater dynamic contrast after hearing your performance. I'd probably add in the tempo marking a range for the metronome with rubato. You nailed the touch - perfect balance of clarity and haziness. And the mood is good. Thanks and I hope you enjoyed playing it. Quote
Morivou Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Well, this is cool! I wrote a few Bagatelles (probably more the length you're looking for. 2 minutes-ish at most each. But some are only like 40 seconds) that you could take a look at if you wanted. The ones closer to the beginning of the file are more easily playable. Some of them have REALLY difficult poly rhythms that you probably aren't interested in looking at. But, here they ALL are. There're 6. You can record any of them or none of them, however you feel about them. Thanks! -Connor Bagatelle.pdf PDF Bagatelle Quote
Morivou Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 I just meant independent lines that don't necessarily correspond rhythmically with each other. Or, one hand rhythm plays off another. It's not really poly rhythm, I guess... Just the best way I can explain. And, no, none of them are "difficult". I just didn't think you'd spend the time on difficult music like you said in the OP. haha. Quote
maestrowick Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Please look at my fanfare and rhapsody I have posted under band music submission. I would value your opinion. Quote
xrsbit Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 I think I'll start this again; I have a new mike. All past requests are nullified, since that was quite some time ago and new pieces may have been written. Feel free to request the same thing again though. I made a recording of something I wrote with this new device, if you're interested in how good it is at recording: http://www.youngcomp...32/prelude-no4/ I actually think it doesn't sound that good there though. Here's a non-blatant-self-promotion link that gives, I think, a better impression: http://www.box.com/s...snjaszy9bplt17n Quote
jrcramer Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 this is great. I wanted to record my set of preludes, but it failed because of a crappy mic and noisy house. I'd love to hear your interpretation of (some of) my preludes. Quote
xrsbit Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 Yes, in fact all of you PM or attach PDF or some other kind of files. It seems I can only save one page at a time as images from your music pages. Quote
