Connor_Helms Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I'm not anti modern per se, just anti-delusion/anti-pretentious. I think anti modernists will die of laffter from this, perhaps some good-humored modernists will get a chuckle. http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/12206684/commissioning-a-composer Quote
HeckelphoneNYC Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I write modern music but this is HYSTERICAL :D I almost cried when she said "I should have just played at weddings" Quote
Ferkungamabooboo Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 And this is why it's important to have examples of your works at the point that you sell commissions :P Quote
xrsbit Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Honestly, I didn't think this was very funny. The funniest part was the cute characters and robotic voices. The dialogue was rather boring. I was expecting some sort of twist but that was it. Quote
keysguitar Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 XD, how about a piece for 31-tet (the frets are really close together and are hard to play) guitar with a 7/5/3 (or more complicated) polyrythym, with sung Klingon (required to be sung in perfect 11-tet against the 31-tet guitar) while playing an organ pedal board with one foot, and another guitar with another foot (using your toes to play hammer ons and pull offs) OH!!! And with a nose flute! Haha, I think I am going to do this now, just to see if anyone would be crazy enough to preform it. I will call it DuHHa' (Klingon for impossible) Quote
Ferkungamabooboo Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 The only thing is that except for rare cases, the intent is never "just because...." Maybe I'm just getting needlessly defensive. Also, you and your microtones haha. Quote
Ravels Radical Rivalry Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I love this little xtranormal episode things. Modern music is not the only subject these people have covered. Quote
HeckelphoneNYC Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Yea, wasn't there one about getting paid to sing at church services? That one was really funny. Quote
jrcramer Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 I did not think it was that funny. although I liked the emotional blackmail: "you are a very talented musician, I know you can do it" bohaa... Quote
MariusChamberlin Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Loved it. New composers motto: "This is my composition, I'm sure you can do it." Someone needs to make an equally funny one about "revivalists", neo-whatevers, what ever you want to call it. I leave that to you two jokers tokke and jaws. Quote
Tokkemon Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Marius, I might actually take you up on that offer. Quote
MariusChamberlin Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Be gentle. We Revivalist types are made of sugar and kittens. Oh and awesome. :P Quote
MariusChamberlin Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Well, I couldn't resists tokke, so I made my own. I still expect one from you! Plus yours would probably be more funny, you could probably come up with more jokes than me, being on the....."OTHER SIDE"...and all. I also decided to poke fun at myself. http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/12384314/commissioning-a-neo-composer?listid=25089254 Quote
Tokkemon Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Mkay, here's mine: Entirely Original: This is a satire of the Mahlerites. Quote
jawoodruff Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 16 flutes.... lol "One for each cardinal direction..." HAHAHA Quote
MariusChamberlin Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 80 minutes for one movement?! HAHAHAHAHA! "And a string section larger than the audience." Quote
