Morivou Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Hey all! I am willing to record any of your pieces that happen to be for solo baritone. It's possible, if you have piano with it, that I can get that recorded with it. However, it would be best if you had a midi track at LEAST for me to record over (I can sample it to make it sound awesome). Ask anybody here, Composer Phil, Heckel, or anyone else who has heard my voice. I am in college (Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University) studying voice and composition as a double major. If I had any recordings, I would put them up. Sadly, anything that I have done in the past is not near what I have accomplished in the past couple of weeks. I have made some major breakthroughs on the upper end of my register. I appreciate you taking the time to consider using me. The reason I am doing this is because I have been a member of the community for 6-7 years now, and I am finally at a point where I can give back. I'd like to by providing composers the opportunity to write for my voice type and get a college level recording (which is better than no recording at all?). BTW - I am free. Really, I can learn anything from the most atonal of pieces to the most awesome I - V - I song with a lot of Vivaldi malismas (I have no clue how to spell that word. haha). Thanks, Connor. Quote
jawoodruff Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Give me a few months.. and I'll gladly write you a piece. :) Quote
Austenite Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I hadn't discovered this before. Are you still available? If it's the case, there are a few songs I've composed (in Spanish, of course) for voice and piano, of which one or two could be sung by a baritone. I'll give them a check and, if I overcome the inherent shame of being a sickening Romantic composer, send them to you. Thanks in advance... Quote

Morivou Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Hmm, how's your throat singing? No. Quote
Morivou Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Sorry! I haven't learned that. A. They don't teach it, probably for a good reason. B. I'm not too huge a fan of it anyway. Quote
jrcramer Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 How about http://www.youngcomposers.com/music/34/halevi-songcycle-liqrat-meqor/ This might be a bit high (up to G#), is it doable? Also there are octave jumps. And I have hear they could sound not so pretty? I'd like a vocalist to take a look and a composer to give some suggestions ;) Quote
Morivou Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Jr: I'll look later today. :) Dominus: The egos are WILD here. It's so disheartening. But, I have the best voice teacher in the UNIVERSE (which is the main reason I am here). All I am going to say is this: Jacobs is worth it if you find a professor you love and with whom you really connect. Quote
