MariusChamberlin Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 So I'm unloading my books into my dorm, and I realize something. I have a LOT of Beethoven stuff. I mean, it's not secret to me or friends and family that I am OBSESSED with Beethoven, but I didn't realize just how much of my stuff is about him. So I thought I would share, and see if anyone else on here has their own composer "shrine". Quote
Morivou Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I have a John Adams shrine, but my stuff is split between my home and here in Indiana. hahah. Quote
Austenite Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Does a massive CD collection plus a Tchaikovsky statuette count as a shrine? EDIT: I guess having a mug with a pic of Mahler does count... Quote
jawoodruff Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 My obsession is with Mozart and Guibaidulina. Quote
jrcramer Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Favourites don't stick very long. But i have had phases where i collected anything from Brahms, Shostakovich, Bartok, Barber. Currently I am idolless Quote
jawoodruff Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Mahler. I would've never guessed that you had an obsession with Mahler. 2 Quote
Guest Ryan K Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I have a lot of Beethoven and John Williams CDs, from back when I used CDs. Quote
Rosenskjold Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I have a lot of Beethoven and John Williams CDs, from back when I used CDs. What do you use now ? Quote
jawoodruff Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 YouTube, Spotify, Windows Media Player, uTorrent...... I don't think I've used a CD in a good 6 - 8 years LOL 1 Quote
Gamma Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I share the same sentiments as jrcramer. Obsessions tend to come and go. I have had many obsessions (too many to remember) since I started composing. Quote
Hetzel, Duke of Asmin Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I recently purchased the complete works of J.S.Bach - rather a massive collection of CDs. It's something I've wanted to do for quite some time, but was unable due to the unavailability of said product in my country. For as long as I've listened to good music, Bach has always been my No. 1. Gamma mentioned obsessions;however, mine with Bach is one that has only come, never to leave. Quote
wayne-scales Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 What do you use now ? I get music directly injected into my brain. By science. 1 Quote
treehugger1995 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I have never seen a sight more beautiful. You, my friend, have a bookshelf of angels on your hands. But if you think you are too obsessed and want to get rid of them...GIVE THEM TO MEEEE!!!! XD I don't have many books, or scores (but I would like to!) but I do bow down to my score of R. V. Willams' Oboe concerto everyday. p.s. that's one nice Beethoven paper doll Quote
