while I'm writing this piece for shinobue, I think this appplies to woodwinds in general so flautist, clarinetists etc your help is welcome.

Basically, these fingerings, are the same note. The halfwholed one let's say is Bb, out of the instruments 7 notes (it's a limited diatonic instrument so embouchure and halfwholing is the only way to get the other chromatic notes). If I were to 'whole hole' the thing, it'd be A. Now then, this other fingering chart, is also Bb. From this fingering, if I were to slowly slide off one finger from each hand, it would give me B natural.

So you see, in this manner, I was thinking it'd allow me to slide up in a continuous glissando ala rhapsody in blue, by going from A, sliding off to half whole to Bb fingering one, having the smallest amount of 'break' between Bb fingering 1 and 2, and sliding fingering two to B natural. Any ideas if this would work?

I play several winds, yes in instruments like Recorder or Quena where you have only wholes (no keys) you can do a quite long linear glissando, it can be 1 whole 8va if you want to start from the lowest note, quite easy.

in correct notation lowest note (all wholes closed) is played as C, (and sounds whatever is pitched in, Recorders are in C or F, Quena un G) so glissandos like C-F, E-A, F-B are possible, (with due transposition)

Just a sidenote only - with keyed winds such as clarinets - you'd still have tiny breaks in the lower registers. In Rhapsody in Blue the lower part of the gliss is faked with an extremely overlegato chromatic climb, I believe when you get a few notes above the B above middle C that it becomes a true gliss (that is you get completely seamles slide from one chromatic pitch to the next).

is because Clarinet is half wholes half keys, in the wholes (Low G,A,B, then C,D,E then D,E,F, & A,B 2nd 8va) glisses can be possible sliding the finger, in the keys is not possible.
