maestrowick Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Let's have some fun. You have been given an endowed professorship at Young Composer University. What would you name your professorship? Meaning, you will name the title of your endowment and a brief description of the person you named them after (the person needs to have been AT LEAST a part of the 20th Century, no Ludwig von Beethoven Distinguished Professors! :w00t: ) I'll do two different fields: :santa: Chad E. Hughes, James Aikman Distinguished Professor of Composition (my former comp teacher) Chad E. Hughes, Benjamin L Pruitt Distinguished Professor of Conducting (my former band director) Quote
Austenite Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Do you mean like - what you'd be capable of actually teaching, plus the name of someone (20th century) who inspired you or helped your career? Quote
maestrowick Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 yessir!!! or will be capable of, (dream a lil' bit!) Quote
Austenite Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 OK, this would be like... Robert F. Beers, Gustav Mahler Distinguished Professor of Basic Orchestration (Mahler is, alongside Tchaikovsky, the composer that inspires me the most - but, unlike Tchaikovsky, did made the cut into the 20th century). or perhaps: Robert F. Beers, Irwin Hoffman Distinguished Professor of Conducting (Irwin Hoffman, former head of Costa Rica's National Symphony Orchestra, has been so far the only conductor to perform one of my works) Quote
siwi Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 This is an interesting game. If I'm being serious I think I'd probably have to be the Mark Bowden Professor Emeritus of Chamber Music. If silly, the 2008 Egri Merlot Professor Emirates Airline of Finishing Pieces the Night Before Deadline Day. Quote
