jawoodruff Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 In the past few weeks, we've seen an increase in trolling in the shoutbox here on YC. As a forum administrator, it pains me to see the trolling result in the loss of one of our best contributors to the site: composerorganist. Chris Sahar has been an amazing asset to the community here on YC. His advice has helped countless younger composers, shape forum design and layout, and provide a source of reason in an otherwise dramatic field. I would like to see the trolling come to a stop. I want composerorganist back. :( 2 Quote
Jem7 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I'm agree with Jason. He helped me a lot and always being helpful. I dont't know what happened in shoutbox but he is amazing guy and he shouldn't leave the YC. Quote
wayne-scales Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 What Phil said. I'd like everyone who reads this thread to take a couple of minutes out of their day to post here about what an asset Chris was to the community and how much we all need him to stay. Chris was an absolute wealth of intelligent comments and reviews about our pieces, advice and help regarding the education of our members, and discussion and information, both in the forums and in the SB. He never hesitated to help out a member of YC while asking for nothing in return, and consistently provided the community with great reviews and threads - not to mention his excellent music. If he doesn't decide to return to YC, there's no doubt in my mind that we'll be losing a cornerstone of the community and that the site will be sorely lacking and will noticeably miss his irreplaceable contributions. 2 Quote
brooks Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 CO! come back! surely you can rise above the ridiculousness of the few for the benefit of the many. Quote
Austenite Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I was just beginning to get acquainted with ComposerOrganist and finding out what a serious and knowledgeable artist he is. It's very sad that, being such an important and well-liked member in YC, he has to fall yet another victim of the disgusting and abusive cowardice innocently masked behind the word "trolling". It's about time that we stop making cheap excuses on this unacceptable behavior and call things their name. So, I beg CO to come back, and help me and others to enrich from his experience and artistic sensibility. But I also beg YC members to show at least some bit of respect for fellow artists, no matter if their ideas or styles aren't our cup of tea. There's a difference between humor and rudeness. I'd rather have CO back than a dozen of those who contribute nothing but troublemaking to this community. Quote
composerorganist Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Ok, I emailed Chopin not to deregister me, but rather put me in the Old Members forum for now. I just really need to focus on stuff both musical and non-musical. I'll be around but not as much. I am going to reduce my visits for the time being. The trolling was just the one spark that set me afire. Sorry for creating this commotion. 1 Quote
SYS65 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I had once the wish to leave YC, because of a well-known YCer tall asian guy... I recall Jason himself wanted to leave because of a similar event on Shoutbox with the same well-known tall asian guy (name starts with S)... I can make a list of good YCers did actually leave, due to the very same guy or other similar ones. "Trolling" is not a masquerade of insulting or degrading, I can take "Trolling" as Max :D he likes to troll but nothing beyond laughing, never goes beyond, I didn't see what happened, but if I'm on shoutbox and I see this happening, I will act, if someone have future complains about my Mod actions, please contact the YC Complain Departament because I prefer to loose 100 cheap trolls than 1 person like Chris Sahar. 3 Quote
wayne-scales Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Oxymoron. Yeah, like 'British Intelligence'. 1 Quote
Morivou Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Le sigh. Sometimes, this site can be hostile even when people don't mean to be. I've been around long enough to see all the YC generations, and they are all the same. Some people are goodie two-shoes and are pretty naive. There is the embittered group that likes to exploit the innocence of the rest of the site. And, then there is the Jokers who want to just watch the world burn. There is the group that is simply knowledgeable and NOT negative in expressing it. And, then there are the people who genuinely care about music, and that circle is actually pretty much everybody on the site. CO was a member of the last two groups. I dunno where I stand. Probably somewhere in between genuinely knowledgeable and bs-er. 1 Quote
jrcramer Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 necroposting is a special form of trolling, you know... 1 Quote
Austenite Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Yeah, we've lost so many real members due to necroposting... Composerorganist and Elizabeth, for instance, were fed up of that... 1 Quote
