Hyeonmin Ghim Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Hi, guys!! I'm writing a piece for french horn and prepared piano. And I want to tune french horn a quarter tone lower than normal for an entire movement. I don't want to use specific fingering for each and every note. And I know that scordatura is usually used for strings. But would there be a way to achieve the microtonal tuning? I'd think, it won't be so complicated actually. But I'm not a horn player..... And instruments don't always work, as you think they would. Please, share ideas with me, horn players, composers and everyone who's got something say to this!!! Quote
Morgri Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 You would probably have him adjust the mouth piece to go offtune a bit, that might be your best bet. 1 Quote
