ChristianPerrotta Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I don't really know where to posto this, but I believe here is OK. Here's the thing: I have some violin glissandi in a composition, but they can (must) be a little out of tune when played. How can I write it in italian on the score? The exact expression could be "A little out of tune", but I accept suggestions (in fact, to be even more precise, as the "glissando" is a half step down movement, the note "out of tune" is the first one, which I'd like to be a little bit lower than the right note). I'm Brazilian (so Portuguese), so it may not be very sage to write in portuguese (as not anyone would be able to read it, and I'm planning to apply this composition to the July's Contest). Thanks for reading Quote
SYS65 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I agree, in english should good enough, in Italian would be something like "un po stonare" but like you can see this will just make it more confusing because is not a common indication and "out of tune" looks perfectly understanable for any person. "um poco desafinado" will look good :D but also put the english Quote
June Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I agree: it's most important for language to suit the audience (more important than having all performance indications in Italian). So if you mean you're submitting to July's contest here on this site, then I'd suggest saying it in English. Quote
