treehugger1995 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I'm sorry, I just can't do this, I need to have my viola concerto completed with a recording by mid November, and two other pieces that need to be my best works of all time, and I need to practice oboeing (yes that's what I call it) and study Music Theory all for my college admissions. Quote
Ink Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I'm also going to have to back out. I've just been asked to write music for another short film, and that's going to use up all my time with school and marching band and everything else sadly. And I was really looking forward to this one too! But, and this is just my opinion, maybe you should thinking about bringing it back down to smaller scale compositions? With school started, I don't really have time to do a full orchestral piece (or the skill for that matter). The smaller instrumentation helps me personally a lot more. Quote
Austenite Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 @Ink: as far as I know, the required instrumentation for this particular contest is completely at the composers' discretion. Which means you might compose a chamber work (a genre which seems more comfortable to you ;) ). Quote
Ink Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I realized that after I posted it  But either way, I still just don't have the time. Quote
muhmuhmuhmusic Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I also need to back out of this due to a time constraint. Senior year is just to busy for me to start something new unfortunately. Quote
Morivou Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 MAHHH. Everybody is leaving. I will do a headcount this afternon and see if we still have enough people. Quote
Austenite Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 I haven't decided to get in yet - but I'm currently through a "dry spell" (an Emma hangover, perhaps :P?), so I'm still in doubt. Quote
Morivou Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 So, there are 8 people left. I am for sure submitting. And, I assume that the ones still listed are as well. We won't cancel this one unless less than TWO people submit. The judges might have a good time only having to judge a few pieces. haha. Quote
Kvothe Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Idea for the first place: he or she will be showcase on the radio here for about one to two weeks. yes or no? Quote
Morivou Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 I like it. :) I'll email Jason. Quote
Tokkemon Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I have the first chunk finished but that's all with time rapidly leaving. I will do my best but no promises. Quote
dostoprimo Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Please don't cancel this! I've been basically done with my submission since August, and since then I've just been sitting on it, making occasional minor adjustments and counting down the days till the end of September! If it's cancelled now, I think I'll just cry! :) Quote
Austenite Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I might ultimately get in, but I'm making no promises either :P ... Alas, I doubt anyone might recall what piece I'll be using, since there's not even a YouTube link for it :( . Quote
Morivou Posted September 11, 2012 Author Posted September 11, 2012 It won't be canceled! Don't you worry. hahah. As long as two people submit, and you bet your butt I'm submitting. Quote
Kvothe Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 I have to increase my toughness for sure since almost everyone this left. Quote
Happenstance Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 You never put my name up! And I have been working on a song! So put me up! :) Quote
Morivou Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 Zelda structure. Theme presented as Variation O Variation I: slow waltz. Variation II: Upbeat free style Variation III: Piano Fantasia (senza strings) Variation IV: Fughetta in 3 voices (senza piano) Variation V: Leggiero (strings pizz./piano light) Variation VI: Finale in 5/4 Cadenza for First Violin. Codetta tutti. :D I'm gonna have to be careful to get this under 10 minutes. haha. 1 Quote
Kvothe Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I will be looking forward for that one. Morivio, you could write a separate one, time willing, outside of the competition that is longer than 10 minutes and it will please the Zelda's time lords. Quote
Morivou Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 Yup. If I end up having to cut a variation for the competition, I will still post the full one after judging. Right now each section is running about 1:20. If that keeps going, then I'll have to cut. Oh wells. ;) I'll still compose the whole thing. Quote
Kvothe Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I will still be glad to review for you. No matter what color I am. Blue, gray, green, black, multi. hehehe. I am a reviewer true and true. 1 Quote
theviolinist7 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Just wondering, are Aniolel and I the only judges? Quote
Morivou Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 Tell somebody else to judge! haha. Nobody's volunteered. Quote
