NathanHathawayAdams Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 So, I got really swamped with life and thought the buck had passed me on this one, and then I saw that it had extended! But I have to drop out anyway to focus on other works for Winter concerts. If I ever get around to finishing the piece I started, I will post it on here. Quote
Morivou Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 Awwww. It's no fun when everybody drops. But, life goes on! haha. Quote
Kvothe Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Thus, we only only have two entries? o.O 1 Quote
theviolinist7 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Well at least it makes judging easier..... 1 Quote
Kvothe Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 While that may be true, it does mean that the competition will still be open. Quote
Maniacal Lemon Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I completely forgot about this, but I'll rush through to get an entry done, haha. Quote
Morivou Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 The rules state: as long as TWO ENTRIES are submitted, the contest will be judged and ranked. 1 Quote
Happenstance Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 SUBMISSION: Here is my entry: http://www.youngcomposers.com/music/3307/dying-at-the-pokemon-center/ This link goes to my site and has THREE things: 1. The entry song 2. It's corresponding paragraph below the song, detailing what I hope the tune accomplishes. 3. The SCORE in the form of a MIDI file. - I am a broke college musician, and in the threads it says that I need to supply a score by any means necessary, the only way to access the score is through a midi program, and it is the only way I have access to it.. Just open it up and it is in all its detail. If you need a great FREE midi program, download Anvil Studio, (Look it up online) and it will open the file just fine as a score, part by part. Lastly, here is the video game THEME song that influenced this project (If you don't already know it by heart): Quote
Happenstance Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Give me some feedback when you get the chance! I'd want to hear it, with any questions or advice! Oh! And the Pokemon healing sound that also influenced this song: Quote
Kvothe Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 @Happenstance: have you heard of the freeware notation programs that float around: noteflight and ect? Quote
Happenstance Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 No, I haven't. Should I look into them? Quote
Morivou Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 Composing = DONE! :D:D Just gotta get the score looking purty. :D Quote
Happenstance Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 I looked into Noteflight last night...hell of a wonderful thing! How long have I been missing out on things like this? But, I cannot manage the 10 free scores I get for being a non-paying member. There is nothing I can really do but save them (without being able to even name them), and open them back up. Any way to share (or, name the score!) that I might be missing? Quote
Morivou Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 http://www.youngcomposers.com/music/3326/the-dragon-roost-variations-for-august-september-competition/ Merry Christmas. Quote
Maniacal Lemon Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Welp, I don't think I have a chance to finish it, so I'll probably just participate in the next one. Quote
Kvothe Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 happenstance, i have sad news: if you do not show us a score for your work here you will be scored a zero in that area. :( Quote
Happenstance Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Well, I am trying to supply you a score and the rules have stated that I can supply one IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE TO ME. I HAVE DONE THIS IN THE FORM OF A MIDI FILE! LOAD IT IN YOUR MIDI WRITER!!! This works fine, there is your score!!! But if that doesn't suffice, will someone show me the quickest alternative to this? I have started a Noteflight, but I have no idea how to share my score. (Which IS uploaded) I have a score, I have it all written out, I just don't know how else to share it. Instead of being lazy and picky about it (A SHARING METHOD WAS NOT SPECIFIED IN THE RULES), just download my midi track and look at it. Why does this not work!?!? I am willing to cooperate around this, but I refuse to take a 0 on half my project because of an unwillingness on your parts as judges to either just open the midi up, or give me help. Quote
Happenstance Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 http://www.noteflight.com/scores/view/d8a508d5876c4de6d4d833470fac136229d9d554 I FIGURED IT OUT!! Here is access to the score. a) the part "misc" is the percussion. b) It is named "project 0," because I still cannot figure out how to rename it. Quote
Kvothe Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 @Happenstance: 1. In the rules it states you have produce a score and make it neat, which counts as 15% of the total points( 100). If you do not provide us one, which you did, you will lose points. Also under this, the entery and sumbision guidelines indicate if the contest indicates a score is a requrement then you must provide one. 2. I did help you to find a means to produce a score. It is up to you to take my advcice or not. 3. and yes, the sharing was also indicated in the sumbision and entry guidelines. The midi just does not work because it does not fulfill all the requremiments. I.e. you have to provide a score, which you did. Now i am happy! Next time, please read the how we will judge the your composition and the entry and submision very carefully. Quote
theviolinist7 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Ok, so how many entries are there, when is the judging deadline, an d will there be a post with all of the pieces on there? Quote
