Hey guys

Could you recommend a music theory book that is complete in its content. I have found several ones, but they hide certain things out. My goal is to learn a strong foundation in music theory so I can write my musical (piano) pieces down on paper for later use.

Music theory is very complex, comprised of many separate yet overlapping and converging subjects, that takes years (if not a lifetime) to learn. I don't think there is a single all-embracing manual out there, unless it is too dumbed-down to be actually useful. I'm afraid you would need lots of books, lots of time and lots of dedication and discipline. Good luck!

I have to concur with the above comments because tonal music evolves through times. Nevertheless, if you must on such a silly question, I would, however, begin to study tonal harmony, and here is my suggestion for you:

Schoenberg's Theory of Harmony and Structral functions of harmony

and score study CPE music.

... be patient, this will take time, and I read more scores than books, those are my books where I learn, but not sure if recommend you to do that.

I was in the same boat. There are a lot of theory books that will tell you the beginning basics. Best to start with one of these. The one I liked the most was Basic Music Theory by Sol-Ut press. I think it can be found for free - although the free one is not printable. That being said, the thing that has made a huge difference for me was taking a college course - Introduction to Music Theory. If you can take one, maybe at a community college, it will prove invaluable. There is also a great website called Teoria. But I feel that the college course gave me the solid start that I needed. Good luck. You'll get there, it just takes time.
