Sojar Voglar Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 That's precisely why I am not very fond of taking lessons and becoming a clone of every other modern composer and having all my originality gone or molded into conformity with the current uniform modern style. I might be losing out on something. But I prefer to tread my own solitary path. My ambitions might not be very big. But then, I don't measure them with the same yardstick that you use! Well, good luck then. At the moment your solitary path has reached a barrier you are unable to pass yet. I had a lot of teachers and quickly I have learned that you can refuse to follow a specific idea one of them has but it's always something that will help you accept. The best thing my teachers have learned me is how to create long composition with limited ammount of ideas. I had tons of lessons how to make chords sound well in all instrumental and vocal combinations, which tone is best to double when a triad is used in 10 instruments or large orchestral group. I was introduced to all composing techniques existing, but nobody ever forced me which to use, just use them in professional way. Don't deny the value of the teachers. You can accept only what suits you. You don't want to accept my suggestions I see. It's up to you. 1
p7rv Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 someone joked that I could write a novel called "To Kill a Mocking Composer" Right, 'someone'. It's not every day I get death threats.... Merry Christmas!
luderart Posted December 24, 2012 Author Posted December 24, 2012 Right, 'someone'. It's not every day I get death threats.... Merry Christmas! It's not a death threat! It was just a joke! And yes, it wasn't my joke! But you have to see the humour in it and not take it personally, just as I was advised to do, and did, regarding your mocking of my music!!! By the way, for those who do not know, "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a novel by Harper Lee published in 1960.
Morivou Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Luderart, pay them no mind. We know you meant it jokingly. Though, with the goons around, you may have issues if you "joke" too much, ya know? I'm going to say this matter is settled since Luderart has come to a fantastic conclusion about the whole incident. Since the thread has since derailed into interpreting personal attacks, I will now close it so as to prevent more mockery of the system. Start a new thread if you wish, but I'll probably just close it too, unless it has some more useful dialogue (which, honestly, this has been great! Good job everyone!) 2
