Hello! I have been practicing writing counterpoint for most of the summer, just free-form contrapuntal musical ideas that never got completed. This month, I tried to take it to the next step by writing fugues. However, I usually get bored with the subject immediately after the exposition, so I decided to make it a double fugue. Most of you would think, "A double fugue? Developing two subjects simultaneously must be harder than one!" However, it is not.

So, I'm working on this double fugue and after the first two expositions the two treble voices take the stage and the bass voice devolves into a lonely half note accompaniment. I have rewritten it many times, but the same thing happens again and again. How do I stop this?

Thank you!
