version191 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Does anyone know where I could find in depth analysis of classical works on the internet? All I can find is popular or historical perspectives, almost nothing that goes into theory or structure. Are there any public directories of this type of content? Quote
Plutokat Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 This might be on the very far end of what you might be looking for but they have very very thorough papers on pieces, or concepts of pieces here. http://www.mtosmt.org You might have to do a lot of digging to find just an analysis because this is a Music Theory Peer-Review online Journal and simple analysis are a little lacking for this site. 1 Quote
Ken320 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 See if you can find some of Leonard Bernstein's "Young People's Concert" series lectures. Some material may be what you already know, but nearly everything Bernstein says is enlightening. And he never talks down to his young audience. If a detail is important, no matter how advanced, he covers it. Quote
highlandsilkie Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 You can find some on Youtube in an annotated scrolling score format. But there aren't many of them due to copyright issues and the effort required to put them together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ8SrVJfZE8 Quote

This seems like a good resource, thanks. I found this book https://archive.org/details/analysisofformas00harduoft it details the form of each of Beethovens piano sonatas, if anyone else is interested. Quote
