Could someone give me some progressions, (IV-I) for example, that would be suitable for a church service.. just chords really. I've been asked to start playing at my girlfriend's church.. but its not really my style, lol. Thanks Guys !

P.S. Btw, I do know theory, (to an extent) so don't be afraid to give me some good ideas.

Well there is no particular progressions that could be related to church service, is a whole style, you can find the same progression in a pop song than in a religious hymn, is style what defines it, beginning with the use of the proper instruments, is not the same IV-I in electric guitar than IV-I in pipe organ (which by the way IV-I is a common "Amen" replay to many prayers), also depends on what church are you talking about, is not the same Palestrina Motets than Gospel hymns.

Ask the priest to give you a list of what he wants, hymns, or masses.

Fire up Youtube and search for these guys:

Cory Henry, Justin Tyson, Rodney East, Eddie Brown, Travis Sayles, Lawrence Lyles, Dennis Montgomery, Alain Merville, Kevin Powell.

That'll tell you all you need to know about playing piano in church!  ;)

Then pick up a copy of the Bach Chorales and the African American Hymnal and you'll be good to go!
