ccolson39 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) I challenge you to write a set of variations on this beautiful theme by R. Schumann! I would've included the chord symbols, but that would make it too easy for you. :PI would like to request some judges, if possible.Anyways, the requirements are no less than 5 variations, it has to be for piano, and you must include 2 other keys: one minor, one major. Deadline is whenever. Enjoy!(Note: I also will be competing. Mwahahahaha!)Judges:1. Stirling_Radliff2. OmarSanchez3.Competitors:1. ccolson392. Sonataform3. DanJTitchener4. Sonataform Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I'll compete, bring it on! What piece is this btw? Quote
ccolson39 Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 This is the first 16 bars of Albumlatter, Op. 124. Thanks for joining! Quote
Sonataform Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Yea, sounds like fun. I love variation form. Quote
Austenite Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Hmm... tempting. I'll let you know my final decision in a few hours / days / weeks / whatever.... Quote
ccolson39 Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 Changed deadline to July 15 because Sonataform is judging his competition's entries. Quote
DanJTitchener Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Hmm.. this is a competition which I'm tempted to enter!I had another set of variations in mind, but I shall take up this challenge first. Beware my stubbornly classical submission. Quote
ccolson39 Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Changed deadline to July 30 because of the lack of submissions. 1 Quote
DanJTitchener Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Changed deadline to July 30 because of the lack of submissions. Thanks, I haven't been able to work on mine yet. A further two weeks should give me enough time! Quote
Sonataform Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Oops... I forgot about this completely. I'll also do my best to submit something by the deadline ;) Quote
DanJTitchener Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 After this competition, if enough people participate and enjoy it, what about a general variation competition?People could pick the theme/s they want to write for. Just an idea :) 2 Quote
ccolson39 Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 That would be a good idea. Too bad I'm learning that I don't like variations form too much :P 1 Quote
OmarSanchez Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I can be a judge, if you still need one. :) 1 Quote
ccolson39 Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 Yes, one more judge would be perfect! Thanks, OmarSanchez. 1 Quote
Sonataform Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 How's everyone's variations coming? I've got at least 5 variations, but my piece just doesn't seem complete yet. Quote
ccolson39 Posted July 26, 2014 Author Posted July 26, 2014 I have about two half-baked variations and I'm testing out ideas for the next one. I'm titling mine "5 hilariously short variations". Quote

Sounds good, since you're in charge of the competition don't feel obligated to keep the deadline as far as I'm concerned. ;) Quote

ccolson39 Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 Sorry guys, but I'm going to have to withdraw. I can now confidently say that I hate variations form! :P Quote
Sonataform Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Well, my piece is done. Just working out the details. Quote
