Sojar Voglar Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I know lots of you at least dream to compose something you will be remember forever. Don't answer in trash-like words, please! Quote
ChristianPerrotta Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I would like to become a teacher at a local university. Then, while teaching in some area (preferably composition), I would like to start a publishing company here, as we don't have any (in Brazil, it's almost impossible to find scores to buy). With this company, I want to help spreading other local composer's works (as well as mine, sure!). Then, maybe I can create some awards in publishments. The whole idea is to try to make the compositional world here grow up. With this, more opportunities will eventually appear, such as live performances, CDs, invitations etc. 3 Quote
KJthesleepdeprived Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I hope to be a minister at a church someday and compose my music on the side. As a minister of worship, I could have an influence on the musical development of the younger church goers who often participate in leading worship and direct their creative potential towards more varied possibilities (Lord knows we've had enough of the same in the church) and providing them an outlet for it among friends and fellow Christians. One of my bigger goals is to help start broadening the musical atmosphere within the worship setting, which all too often now is reduced only to lyrical cliches and basic rock/pop arrangements. I think Christian musicians should be seeking to glorify God through more than just weekly pop pastiche sing-a-long festivals. This would include exposing the congregation to both older and contemporary pieces of worship music (in moderation, of course) and drawing their attention to the musical accomplishments of the youth and college ministry (as well as the older folks who do stuff). So hopefully that is where I'll be in the future. I also wouldn't mind being a hot air balloon salesman, but what does that have to do with composing? :P 3 Quote
EmperorWeeGeeII Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I want to get married, become a fairly known composer, publish a book, move to Canada, and maybe have a kid. Quote

Plutokat Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 The plan is to finish my doctorate and get at least a assistant professor job at a midsize university or larger. If at a small university then I would like an associate professor job. Both would be teaching music composition and theory and what ever classes the university would have me teach. While there I would like to grow a composition program by including (if not already there) a new music ensemble, hosting a composers conference like SCI or NACUSA, established a study abroad program for my composition students, and develope a film scoring program for those who want to go down that path. While teaching I hope to make my mark in the music world as a composer through performances both in and outside the USA, and through competitions and residencies with ensembles. Quote
pateceramics Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Just write more. Write more. Write more… I'm convinced it all comes down to iron *ss. Put your butt in the chair and work, and don't get up until said butt has fallen asleep. If you work 8 hours a day, and sleep 8 hours a day, that leaves 8 hours for something else. Use that time wisely. (: 1 Quote
Frankie Detergnt Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 would love to finish understanding more of the rhythm and seemingly more of harmony (as i seem to be lacking some basic understandment). and with this knowledge i would LOVE to create ..stuff. unheard unimaginable but functional music. i can't wait to hear what i'll make. then i would love to spill this understandmant into the visual world, dancing world and ultimately the speaking language, because it's always the same mind/mechanism which generates all of these languages. i would love to speak a few sentances with people, making use of the same rules of music composition. after a few minutes of me talking people would feel the way they do when the chorus begins. i'm daydreaming.. Thatguy v2.0 Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I hope I continue to have experiences in my life that inspire and channel new music out of me, regardless of any lucrative pleasures that may come my way. Quote
Shadowwolf3689 Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I hope to go back in time and write all of Wagner's operas before he does, thereby securing his fame for myself. 2 Quote
Diallo Banks Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I want to be the composer-in-residence of an orchestra. Have my work preformed all over the world. Touch people's hearts with my music and make the world a better place. Quote
Koalable Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I want be one of the greats of Hollywood, like Hans Zimmer, Gregson-Williams, Jablonsky, McCreary, etc. And to be credited with work for great blockbuster movies. I would also like to at least write one ballet and one musical before I finish off my career when I'm 90. Quote
