I'm not sure this is exactly the correct category for this, but it felt close enough.

I, or rather, my band, is looking to arrange and play a public domain piece for our show next year, specifically Petrushka by Stravinsky. I know that to arrange a copyright piece you have to file a request and possibly pay a fee depending on the piece. I haven't been able to find any information regarding public domain pieces, but I assume we wouldn't have to go through the same channels as with a copyright piece.

If anyone could provide any information and/or links regarding doing this it would be greatly appreciated.

This work is most likely NOT public domain in either Canada and other countries where the term is life+50 years (like China, Japan, Korea and many others worldwide), or the EU and in countries where the copyright term is life+70 years. However, as this work was first published before 1923 or failed to meet notice or renewal requirements, it is almost certainly public domain in the USA

If you're in the USA, and the above is correct, it should be fine to do whatever you want. Otherwise you need to make an arrangement with the rights holders.  I am not a lawyer, and you should probably see one if you want a definitive answer.
