I have been told that harmonic minor is used more often, even in classical music. I disagree on that. Most of the minor pieces I hear if they aren't just your regular minor have majors or other minors for the accidentals. Like if I hear an f# in a g minor piece it is usually because of some major in the sharps like G major rather than harmonic minor. Of course that could be because of how my ears hear progressions in keys but I honestly think that harmonic minor is used less often than people say it is.
